This! Yall think they’re miserable but they’re grown women, traveling around the world doing whatever, getting their check while enjoying their life. Yeah maybe they want to release more music but it’s not like they’re struggling in any way.

I think YG is so bad at managing their artists, especially Blackpink. Lisa didn't get enough promotion in Korea.
Blinks protest against YG over what they see as poor management in social media many a time.
So, I highly doubt Blackpink will release a second full-length album anytime soon.
After the company changed the CEO, YG demoted from top blue-chip company to regular mid-size business due to poor performance.

I highly doubt they won't renew. YG might be bad at managing but at least they don't overwork them. The members can happily go on a vacation anytime and YG never bothers them. They're making money and living in luxury while being in BP. Why would they leave that? Unless Rose or Lisa want to settle back in their home countries, I doubt they'll ever disband anytime soon.

I understand the argument about lack of music tho but they can easily ask for more freedom when they renew their contracts. Without bp, yg will only have Bigbang as a top group and they're on hiatus so I'm sure yg will accept whatever conditions bp want.

The truth of the matter is what fans want and what blackpink themselves want are two different things. This might be a situation where the fans are projecting their own hate of the company onto the girls. Fans might think yg is the worst company known to man while blackpink who actually work with them find the environment and people at yg very nice. Maybe the mistreatment is only on the fan side of things while blackpink have no real issues with their management.
Don't be too surprised if they renew. Despite how yg "mismanages" their groups, its a fact that most of their artists have signed back with them. Of course people then come up with conspiracies of blackmail and the like but the numbers don't lie. At most I see only one or two members not signing back with them.

Agree. Unless you think bp are still complete puppets (in their 5th year), doing whatever yg decides, the members haven't shown dissatisfaction with their limited music releases & empty schedule. It's annoying as fans, but i wouldn't be so sure this isn't what the members want. Barely working & still racking money..

I'm 50/50. I think if the members were really dissatisfied with anything the company would change. BP are their cash cows, there's no way yg won't want to get them back. The only member I can see not signing back is Jennie since she seems to be interested in writing her own songs and yg is not letting her. Then again when she resigns she can make the contract where she has creative freedom for their releases. The one thing I am thinking about is if yg releases another gg how long fans will have to wait between comebacks. yg isn't known to give frequent comebacks to their new groups, much less a 7 year old established group with a fanbase that will wait for them.
Jennie is the only one I can see that might, and that's a big might, not resign. I think she might be somewhat over being an idol and might go with instagram modeling and writing and releasing solo work once a year.

Jisoo - I would have said maybe she'd like to become full time actress but she may have changed her mind on that recently and is seeing the value of being one of a group.
Jennie - Maybe wants to fulfill her Seoul socialite destiny get married and start having some G Dragon babies, but it would be a waste of her star power. She doesn't need Blackpink anymore. Solo was the high point of her career, she probably wants more of that, less of pretending to be interested when the camera is not on her.
Rosé - Before I'd have said she was a frustrated musician and wanted to leave and move to the US to start following the Halsey path. But since we got her solo I think maybe the fan narrative about her passion for music and writing has been overblown, to say the least. She's picked up in popularity (and in rabid fans) over the last few years. I think she's probably happier being seen as the arty credible hair flippy one in Blackpink than in leaving and fans really finding out it may not be so.
Lisa - If she has sense she should go home to where she is loved and supported and has a lifelong career as a celeb waiting for her rather than this petty passive-aggressive thing with YG, where they won't even release her sales figures because they don't want her to be seen as popular without her group. That company gaslights the hell out of her and it can't be doing her any good. We speculate about their friendships but I think it will be loyalty to her group members which stops Lisa from heading home to live out a much happier life in a happier country as a national treasure.

Jennie - maybe will pull a Sistar and ask her members to dissolve the group amicably

i actually completely agree with your assesment.
jisoo: snowdrop was probably a wake up call for her. being in the biggest gg doesn't mean you can do whatever and earn a respectable carreer as actress. Knetz will have labeled her for pretty much the rest of her acting carreer unless she comes back with a banger. She needs bp relevancy now more than ever.
Jennie: she seems over the idol life and she truly doesn't need bp (in korea at least). She has multiple indivual ads for huge korean brands. She could have a very stable solo carreer in korea.
Rose: her solo proved to many that people really overestimated her musical talents. It's more that in comparison with the others she showed more interest in music. However korea is small, there are many celebs already (with jennie being koreans pick of bp) and since she doesn't have a home country to fall back on or the international support lisa has, she needs bp to keep the relevance she has now.
Lisa: if she's smart, she would go home. She has literally a whole country ready to treat her like a goddess and support whatever she wants to do, while she only gets disrespect in korea. Not to forget, she's internationally the biggest, so she will be able to count on that support too. If she renews, it's only out of loyalty towards the other members.

My bet is some will at least solo sign again as whatever they have with YG works great for them money wise. Plus some like Jennie could probably stay solo under YG, the only ones I feel like might not sign are Lisa because the average of foreign member resignment in kpop looks very bad on average and maybe Jisoo considering the fuss over that kdrama, plus she seems into acting so I guess she could just transfer to their acting section if needed though.
I don't know enough on Rose to judge, but YG is a great place to do solo music even if you have slow release dates compared to most kpop companies so I'll go with resigning for her.
But these are just guesses so yes take them with a grain of salt.

Jisoo - she’s better off as a actress, then again she started off the wrong foot with Snowdrop but maybe overcome it. now when it comes to what she wants… i still think she’d do acting ( and modeling on the side like she’s doing rn ) rather than another 7 years of being an idol. out of all members she’s really the one that has the least interest in music. she doesn’t post covers, she doesn’t dance. she has enough crazed fans to support her on whatever she does. she doesn’t NEED to be in BPink anymore and neither do the rest tbh : they’re relevant as hell while doing nothing as a group.
Jennie - I think she’s done with idol life. Do I think it’s a waste? Definitely. She literally has it all. But I don’t think she likes being on stage that much. Jennie has her up and downs. Shes either giving it her all or she’s done. Another years of performing the exact same songs… idk if she’d want that. She seems more interested in modeling and fashion and even singing than rapping even though she was a rapper ( I don’t blame her tho ) The socialite part is strangely accurate because that’s really what I think she’d rather do. Partying and settling up with GD who I think she’s been dating for a while now? Hopefully she releases JNK1 before she leaves.

I think she’s happy in Blackpink but wouldn’t beg the other members if they decide to all leave because once again she doesn’t NEED BP. She has a bright future as a model too and has lots of connections outside of Korea. I think she’ll just have fun and occasionally release music as solo but I’m not even sure about that.
Lisa - I completely agree. YG treats Lisa like dog shit. Ive never seen any company do that to their #1 money maker. They’re insane, it’s like they genuinely don’t care for this girl. The promotion wasn’t BAD for her solo but it did feel pretty rushed at times and they haven’t updated her sales in ages.
Imo she has such a bright future outside of Korea… in Thailand she’s an S tier star without spending much time there, literally the entire country ADORES Lisa. Lisa did ONE survival show in China and gained a lot of fans. China favors Thai celebs a lot because Thailand and China don’t have any bad history. Seriously if she keeps promoting there she could be incredibly big and she’d be treated a lot better than in Korea.
But would she leave to another country not so sure. She seems to like the US too. I wonder if she’d go there if she left YG

The only one I can see not signing is Lisa.
Jennie will stay. She might release a solo once in a while and then become a female Won Bin. She will be praised for her visuals and style and she will make tons of money from cfs.
Jisoo will stay. After the snowdrop mess she will need the YG connections to get another drama. Or photoshoots.
Rose could go to the US and become an indie artist. But success is not guaranteed. Although if she stays in YG, she will keep being successful.

Actually I'm hardcore blink turned a casual listener so I know for the fact that they were trained to have a stronger image and rap based songs but jennie doesn't even get to rap now so that makes sense why she isnt satisfied with the music.

I like how people here write like they know what BP's real personalities or motives are. Haven't people in the fandom complained all the time that they don't even have the slightest clue about them? They barely give out anything real about themselves. You guys are always surprised when they hang out or are friends with other idols or western celebrities, but yet you know they're not renewing their contracts.

I have a hunch they'll renew-- the upsides of working for YG (long breaks, independence, lots of cfs and fashion deals) outweigh the downsides (not much music) especially since some of them don't even seem passionate about music compared to fashion and acting.
the only one I don't see renewing is Lisa. She's been away from her family and home country for a long time, she might wanna go back and establish herself there. She's way more popular in Thailand than she'll ever be in S. Korea.

The only reason why she would be done with the idol life is the hate she's getting constantly for literally existing. Other than that I'm really sure she's as much into music as fashion.
Teddy even described her as a perfectionist and the kind of person that knows exactly what she wants. Jennie also co wrote and co produced their latest title song. I don't think someone done with the idol life would suddenly decide to participate more in the production of their songs.
Jennie is also the member that complains the most about their lack of songs.
