Any Cat Experts?!

  • This is my first time being a cat mom in over 18 years

So my poor kitty who's about 7 months old and is male seems to be constipated based on reaserch i've done.

He's trying to go and he can't, he's thrown up a few times, i've given him milk and put a bit of olive oil on his food

the poor guy is breathing heavy and crying and i had to put towels down everywhere...I really don't know what else i can do for him

except call the vet in the mornin and it's 12:23 am here they don't open for another 7 hours.

I'm praying the milk gives him diarrhea but until than i feel so helpless and staring at him and how he's suffering is killing me

is there anyone who has any other advice/ideas? I have miralax but i read it's best not to use that unless a vet tells me too.

I have stool softeners for humans but in gel tablets so i can't just break them open and spread it over his food or water.

he is drinking and ate a little.

ahh i feel so terrible :(

  • Oh no! Are there any emergency vets near you? I wouldn't give him milk. I get the logic you're using, but the inability to digest it properly might just make him feel worse. Until you can get to the vet, google tells me pumpkin may help soften his stool. The problem is that there might be another cause like an obstruction and making him have to go more won't help in that case :( I remember my cat had trouble pooping a long time ago and it was because his anal glands were impacted. I hope you are able to get your cat help soon

yeah what i read it says that milk may cause diarrhea but yeah i get your point he's thrown up 4 times even the milk so i picked it up. right now he's laying in the litter box just suffering and i can't do nothing for him. we don't have any pumpkin and there are emergency vets but i can't afford the payment to rush him to one. My vet opens in about 6 1/2 hours as soon as they do i'm calling them to get him in, i'm sure they will get him in right away...i hope. he's a bit of a furry kitty so it could be a hairball from what i read or it could be anything. I really hope it's nothing serious, the other day he was running around, playing with toys and today nothing.

  • Poor kitty. Please don't try to give him anything for humans, especially medicine. If you have a probiotic drink that isn't flavored, that might help.

I haven't given anything but milk and i took it away hours ago. he's just laying in the litter box suffering :sadr: i have no probiotic drinks the vet opens in 5 1/2 hours it's going to be a long night, i can't sleep with him like this. he keeps throwing up too :waterr:

Oh no. I'm running out of ideas because that's usually our go-to for emergencies. Let me ask my aunt, she has tons of cats.

  • Still waiting on my aunt's reply, but you can try giving him water with a bit of sugar through a syringe little by little so he won't be too dehydrated. Just a bit of sugar.

Poor guy. I wanna give him a hug. When I hug mine I just get kicked in the arm

he runs when i try to get near him he's completely miserable, he was drinking a bit of water but he just throws it back up. literally sleeping in the litter box i'm like ugh now you're a mess but i don't even know what to do i can't let him on my bed because he keeps trying to go and clear shit is coming out and plus he's puking i'm like don't mess up my bed please i have towels all over my floor all the behavior's and things he's exibiting from research signal constipation but damn. this is torturing me. i hate seeing him suffer and nothing i can do about it.

  • I'm sorry, I wish I could help and send money. Maybe he wants to smell you that's why he keeps going to your bed instead of the towels? Especially since it's softer. You also have to be careful not to let him sense your stress.

Just don't be too hard on yourself; I think he'd welcome your presence and touch but right now he's clearly agitated which is why he's running away. Don't forget to take care of yourself, too. Drink tea or whatever helps you de-stress.

i'm distracting my stress by watching kpop i just keep looking over at him and he's sound asleep maybe sleeping will calm him down but i guarantee i will get him in the vet if it kills me

  • Glad to hear that you have something to distract you with. You're doing your best, trust me. I feel you. I panic and feel all sorts of things whenever my baby's having issues.

My Aunt finally replied, so if in case he wakes up, you can try this. Some parts are in my language so I'll translate (had to cover my name LOL):IMG_20211207_182741.jpg

*1ml syringe or a small one

*Her last chat bubble says, "If poop comes out, you can help pull it out to help the cat."
