both are known for their dancing skills, both are known to be fun and like to joke around others, and at the start, both were considered not very “good looking”. however, when it comes to solo fandom and GP recognition, why is jimin so much more popular?
but jin is a visual and he’s not that popular so maybe looks don’t matter?
I don't think jhope is unpopular one as compared to back then when he was super underrated. But after hope world he gained a big fanbase obviously jimin is more popular in gp because he was given more exposure during rookie era(dancing collabs at year end shows ) and koreans tend to love voices like jimin.
Jisoo isn't as promoted as the others. She hasn't gotten a solo yet.
Maknae line biased armys are the loudest and the hyungline biased armys are more lowkey. Also BTS rap songs do not get as much attention compared to the vocal line. Just check spotify. I think it is a matter of preference at the end of the day. Most of us were not into the rap genre until bts happened.
Also it depends on which member an army relates to more.
Hobi's excited and bubbly personality was a turn off before. I actually thought he was faking it and found it cringe. But later when i discovered more sides of him i fell so hard and now he is officially my bias wrecker and my 2nd most liked member. J Hope has such a complex personality.
So i kinda get why Jimin is more popular than J Hope but i don't think it is something to get upset about. Each member's popularity ends up contributing to the group as a whole
I shared my views in previous post u can take a look at it. In my opinion obviously visuals do play a role because kpop focuses too much on visuals but since debut era maknae line had more stans because they had that "goofy relatable idol like " personalities and did more interactions with fans than others (vlives and better fan service etc). Jhope also had that super extra personality but don't get me wrong it sometimes looked really fake. And Tbh individual popularity difference isnt even much now.

Interesting because I think what makes BTS “authentic” to people is that they have self producing underground rappers, and I’ve seen on Reddit most fans said they prefer BTS hip hop songs, yet the rap songs don’t do as well as the pop songs in streaming?
