SM never cared for Red Velvet anyway, it seemed like they didn't care that much to make them there big focus
EXO yes they were dropped faster than they should have, SM is stupid EXO had the chance to hold on to their status for more years but alas, they were dropped

They might be phasing them out because of contracts coming to an end. I doubt all of Exo will renew and red velvet is still iffy. So it's better to milk them as much as possible while also setting up newer groups to take their place. Aespa and NCT have pretty much replaced their sunbaes already, both are the biggest BG and GG sellers in SM.

exo was dropped when bts rose. sm realized they cannot compete so they created the avengers of kpop. superm did not work. some members of both groups are in military now. they are currently trying with nct.
with rv, they are in a phase where most members are not 100% in music anymore, yeri, irene and joy are doing acting now. it makes sense if sm's focus is aespa. aespa is sm's revival.
-
I mean, RV is going to return soon with a Japanese comeback and a Korean album, so while they might not be the main focus for SM, I don't believe they have been forgotten about.
As for EXO, a lot of members are in the military so like... yeah. But we've been seeing a few solo activities here and there at least.

Exo was the only sm group who had the most potential to break into western market i wonder what was going in their minds when they chose superm over exo.

I've heard this said a lot and I find it weird so please explain Exo's potential for the western market. They were clearly targeted at Asia since the start after all.
