Drop two vocalists and I'll tell you which one is better in my opinion

  • I don't know every idol or their abilities so it'd be cool if you could also drop a vid as well.

I won't explain unless you ask me to btw

  • Taeyeon v Momo. Analysis/explanation will help give a better understanding.

    Taeyeon.

Momo's two main problems are her nasality and the tightness in her voice.

Nasality is what makes you sound like your nose is clogged. Jisoo from BLACKPINK also suffers from this. It can be avoided by opening the mouth more and lifting the soft pallete (back upper part of the mouth).

When the voice sounds tight, constrained, and whiny, it means the larynx is high which leaves less space for air to go through the pharynx. It's caused by breathing with the chest and tensing the throat muscles. The larynx naturally goes up with higher notes, but it seems like Momo tends to lift it on easy notes as well.

She also has poor pitch and has been trained to sing out of her register (which also contributes to incorrect larynx position and damages the vocal chords).

Suggestions for Momo so she can take better care of her vocal chords:

    — Open her mouth more to lift the upper pallate and allow more space for air.

    — Breath with the diaphram.

    — Sing in a comfortable register.

    — Avoid lifting the larynx too much, and enounciate vowels with a fuller sound. I'm not quite sure how to explain it; compare how she sings "You are gonna be mine again" in M&M, versus how Jihyo sings it, and you will get what I mean. Jihyo creates a fuller sound, opens her mouth more, pronounces it slightly differently, and she breathes correctly.

    That's all.
