I would say 2. Making up achievements that aren't real.

I don't really see any problem with companies posting artists achievements(that are true)since they are facts.

i mean real media play is a combination of those two things. like a company pushes articles about their group heavily that overhypes achievements that rlly arent that big or that basically lie about things the artist has achieved especially in comparison to other big groups.

I'd probably define it as excessive bragging about fabricated and/or obscure achievements that are presented as incredible and unprecedented. Particularly if they also name drop bigger artists to give the impression that they're almost on the same level or even about to surpass the more popular group.

mediaplay essentially just something to use the media to get attention, it can be good or bad, although it often has negative connotations today, bad mediaplay is pitting groups against each other, reporting false news, or wording false news to make it look real. i think those that just contain facts is not bad mediaplay
