Ivermectin is widely prescribed for humans around the world as an anti-parasitic drug. It has a long track record of safety. Ivermectin's efficacy in stopping viral replication also has a fair amount of anecdotal evidence behind it. It is widely used in India, for example, and the "Indian variant" was quickly renamed the "Delta variant" after too few Indians died to spin up a new crisis from it.
The CDC won't look at this evidence, however - because if they did and Ivermectin or Hydroxychloroquine were proven to work as anti-COVID therapeutics, they would be forced to cancel the EUA for the COVID experimental gene therapies and pull them out of circulation.
Media comics joking about "horse paste" is just part of the ongoing Big Pharma propaganda campaign. The only real risk in the horse version is that it is easy to take too much. The human pills are safer, if you can find a doctor to prescribe them for you.
But I don't think either drug is really needed to prevent COVID-19. Vitamin C, D3, Zinc, and overall good health are enough to stop any serious symptoms from ever developing. Good overall health being the most important - since ICU COVID patients in the USA have an average BMI of 43.
