Gatekeeping online fandom paid content, yay or nay?

  • Do you agree with gatekeeping online paid contents or you believe people should post it on other platform so its available and free for everyone?

Tbh I was shocked that RV's Beyond Lives vids were every on YT and you technically can find all other artists Bubble account contents everywhere. If you do that to SHINee, shawols will nuke you from orbit and banish from face of Earth. Sometimes I think shawols can be harsh, but then looking at how many times randos take partial bubble messages out of context to make controversies or when someone took 5 sec of Jennie's dancing to bash her yet again, I feel like shawols got it right.

  • I don't think banishing someone from the fandom is okay at all but I understand why some fans don't like the sharing because

A - It is technically pirating and in theory is "lost" money for the idol and label

B - It's no fair for those fans who did pay for something "exclusive"

It's like sneaking into a concert compared to the ones who paid the money to get in.

But I don't agree with bullying other fans because of this. It's okay to not interact with those fans and/or block them but to say they're not a real fan doesn't sit right with me either.

  • I believe that everyone who is able to afford it is willing to show support and demand for their fav artist by spending money on them

I purchased beyond live for 127, dream and wayv but I had nothing against those who watched it illegally

I only get annoyed when I see someone making fun of those who paid for it :eyes:

i meann if it wasn't for people who are willing to spend money, our favorite group wouldn't be having this concert right now you ungrateful little- :pepe-cut:

  • armys upload paid content on twitter, they share clips and make edits, and hybe doesn't take them down. armys share the content because they know not everyone can afford them. hybe takes down links for online concerts and sites/links where full dvds are uploaded. if they find them, that is lol

  • Baekhyun asked us not to watch kyoong con illegally and for the most part you won’t be able to find it online.

Idk idc either way. I can afford it so I pay for it. But I don’t believe in policing others. If they want to watch it illegally they can. As for the company well it’s their prerogative.

But if you’re gonna upload shit to oksusu with no subs damn straight we will watch the illegal version :pepepizza:

As for bubble I’m totally against that. Please release all bubble messages and videos and pics. Idc idc. And also com set DVDs. Please upload them. No one has a CD player. Tf.

  • It depends on availability. I think people shouldn't stream a paid concert on Twitch. But, if they don't put a VOD afterwards, the only way we can watch it again is through a recording.

If there's no legal way to get it, we are forced to use an illegal one. It's the same thing with old concerts, games and movies. If there's no way to buy, we are forced to pirate.

  • Considering the amount akgaes go after Taemin I'm happy shawols gatekeep bubble. I'm totally ok with private sharing via moderated groupchats though

    yup exactly!

Im ok sharing with other shawols, just not open on twitter where there are demons lurking around

  • It's not my place to tell someone what to do. If they want to share it illegally then that's their business and they will have to deal with the consequences. I think if you have the means to pay for it then you should, but I'm also not gonna to shame or go after someone who doesn't.

  • I guess this depends on fandom to fandom. Ksoo encouraged everyone to translate and share it with international fans Kek.

If he is ok with it then I dont see the problem

I just find it too risky. Look at what's been going on with Aespa's Winter lately coming to all kinds of conclusions over a Bubble post

    yup

looking at Winter's situation and that time people were posting weird comments to Taemin on IG live and he literally said lets go to bubble its safe there

If we spread it around then it wont be safe to him anymore

  • It depends. My first concert with BTS was the online concert mots One. I watched it for free but after the show was over I regretted not buying a ticket because the show was worth spending money on. So for their NYEL I decided to buy tickets then(although it didn’t live up to mots One)

My point is that I doubt armys who buy tickets buy them for the sake of just watching the show and it is more as a way of showing support if they can. So I don’t shame people who can’t afford nor do I shame those who decide to buy tickets. At the end of the day we are all fans trying to show support within our capacity.

Also hybe is pretty lenient with illegal streamers, at least from what I have seen; sharing jail meme jokes and then taking down the links later but not pursuing or investigating it. I think if they truly cared about the lost money the best measures will be to punish offenders but it doesn’t happen. Maybe they earn a lot already from the armys who pay
