Is a group that doesn't sell 100k albums in first week a failure now?

  • Anyways, saying that a group is a flop for not selling 100k is like saying you are a flop in life for earning $1mil a year because you don't compare to Bill Gates's annual income I mean we are all humans right so if you don't aim higher and compare to the top you are a F.L.O.P

This. As long as you're making money in your career, you aren't a failure. This mindset is toxic af. If it applied to regular people, everyone in this forum would likely be considered a failure.

Bill Gates is flopping. He have growth wealth only 33% during pandemic while Elon Musk have growth 600% :peperich:

  • maybe not a failure but for boy group I would say those are low sales

on the other hand I bet there are many girl groups which would like to sell 80-90k in first week :)

  • 100K used to be the milestone if that's the right word for GG (I think) but like others have said the increase in kpop's popularity has meant that more groups are able to achieve that but it's still quiet a feat especially for newer groups...

and like others have said at the end of the day $$$ in your bank account is all that should matter and whether one can make a decent living as an idol
