What is your take on this matter?

  • Studying abroad.

Is it worth it? Lets say you got a scholarship to study abroad. But its only 50% and you have to pay the rest. Would you take it?

And after you finished studying. Is it better to stay and work there if the opportunities are bigger and the salary is higher. Would you live there or go back to your own country but is underpaid.

What are you takes on both of these matter. I need opinions.

  • I don't know about your case but here

    • A lot of scholarships are bonded that is after you study abroad you have to come back to work for them for at least a few years contract and if you break that bond you have to pay them back so I don't know if that applies to you. But of course there are scholarships without bonds
    • Regarding the scholarship whether or not it is worth it really depends on a lot of factors. You own financial situation is a huge factor here. Not only tuition fees you also have to take into consideration accommodation fees/daily expenditure fees etc etc
    • I would say work overseas for more money. I mean it's kinda why you want to study overseas in the first place right? If not why spend that extra money to study abroad when you can spend way less in your domestic country (for my case local unis have a lot of subsidies), if you are going to come back to work with a lower pay?

I did study overseas but only for 1 semester it was an exchange program. But it's different because our grades aren't reflected back in our transcript we do get the credits but the grade won't affect our overall result. For me I just went there to have fun because of that. Not saying that I didn't study but at least I didn't need to worry about not doing well, only needed to pass. Which was super easy though I didn't really study a lot and still manage to get Bs. Rest of the time is spent on travelling/exploring/visiting places/eating.

it all depends on the university and the conditions of the scholarship which is really a contact...

you do x, university does (or gives you) y

Yeah, theres contract for scholarships from my country. You need to work for them but still need to pay 25%. Im currently eyeing for scholarships that the institute provide and the government of the country provide. Aiming for the gov. scholarship is not bad. There is a 1 year program to learn the language. Thats definitely a plus. And if you dont get the full scholarship, you can work part time. Another plus.

Yes, I definitely wanna work overseas. But theres a couple of things that I am concerned of. Theres no relatives for you to go to if you have health problems or anything. Medicals are not cheap. If something happens, it would suck. What if its harder for me to get a job just because Im foreign? And a lot more things. Thats why Im contemplating. my cousins (4 people) that are currently studying abroad told me to work here to help the country. No one wants to work abroad. But, I feel like, this country is beyond saving. Oh, the country I want to study is SK.

But thats the thing, all of my family members are patriotic (next level). My grandparents, uncle, cousins all are into politics and are/used to work for the gov. 2 of my cousins represent the country for sports. Like, its next level patriotism. And no one agrees with anyone who say working overseas are better. :waterr:

No such thing as working in your domestic country, FOR THE COUNTRY that is pure nonsense. You work to determine what is best for you.

Overseas you need to also take into consideration things like health you mentioned. Insurance is important in case anything happens and you are all alone.

If it's SK I'm not sure how much language barrier might be an issue for you to work overseas there? Thing is a lot of my friends who work overseas either work overseas for a couple of years, or they come back because of a bond. I feel if you are going to come back to work with a normal pay that you COULD HAVE GOTTEN if you study in a local uni in your own country, then the extra cost for study abroad isn't worth it

well you gotta make up your own mind and opinion bout these things right?

having the support of family is paramount but if you feel like this is the right step for you go for it...

we especially on AKP shouldn't convince you one way or another...

the ultimate choice and risk is up to you...as long as you understand the pros and cons of both...
