I wanted to buy chocolate-crossaints in the supermarket yesterday and on the cheapest brand was written "Pain" and as translation into German it only said "fine baked goods" and the front-page only says "Pain"

Pain like "I hurt you" or what does it mains?

Pain means bread.

For example, the famous 'baguette' is a variety of 'pain'.

but be aware

because Pain is also use to say Pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant)

and in this case it's not bread but a pastrie
