I got scammed by Apple

  • > Send recent model iPhone to Apple for servicing

    > Apple says iPhone wasn't found

    > Lost money and phone, Apple says tough shit and to call the police

    > Police said nothing can be done because I didn't insure it, but Apple did

    > Apple pockets lost item insurance, probably has the iPhone and resells it on Amazon for more profit

    > Phone can't be classified as stolen or lost by Apple policy so there's no theft prevention

  • man you can sue them for destruction or theft of intellectual property if you had photos saved on it.

civil suit, of course. (will take a career and a half to finish it but if you win, you do stand to make much more than what a phone cost lmao)

I'm just grasping at straws though.

They tell you to sign off your account from your phone. But this basically means the phone is no longer yours, even if you paid for it.

And even if you delete your data, anyone with enough expertise can scan through the deleted drive

you could provide a receipt as proof of purchase -- and

what I meant for the data - I don't mean that they can now see the data

the access to the data is wrongfully restricted from you so you've incurred a loss in intellectual wealth and thus if you can quantify the loss in a dollar amount, you could sue for compensation-- in theory.

(i'm not a legal expert though -- consult a lawyer first lmao)
