You more or less brushed aside the very notion that no one couldve been possibly ever been into kpop back then because it's too much of crazy thought even though it was the time kpop was expanding worldwide and bringing in a ton of new ifans.
The fact that it's the most mentioned song with various reasons given in this thread and currently leading shows unlike what you think people do in fact know about its impact regardless of its age. SNSD is still pretty popular among kpop fans despite being an 14 yo group and being inactive for the last 4 years, surely majority of these fans were into kpop years ago and thus would would know of their biggest hits such as Gee. Like I earlier said Gee was one of the biggest songs ever in kpop, doesn't matter how long ago, it was THAT big and influential to the point you can see it's direct consequences today, same way you can see SNSD influences today.
Bro my first comment literally stated "many of us" you're clowning me i swear. Last time we made a age poll on akp the large majority of users was 15-25 years old. Considering the very large majority of users are also westerner, now tell me how tf the majority of users were listening to kpop in 2009 bruh.
I'm not discrediting Gee in any way, just saying it will be very hard to create a fair argument for "Gee" with the people who participate to the pool.
