What i think is that this track is another one to explain their storyline which is why its lyrics are full of Aespa's lore. This will be followed by ep 2 of SMCU that will explain the story further. And this will be followed by a proper comeback with full album and title track that is not about Aespa's universe but has more abstract lyrics.

Reason why i think so is because their album will have b-sides and i really doubt that b-sides will also be all about black mamba and kwangya. B-side songs will be more generic like forever. Also because Next level is a remake and doesn't establish their signature sound and have none of SM music elements.

It's not a filler song, it's a bridge song, a pre release to their full album. But it's one of the top 5 songs in Kpop over the past 6 months.

All I'm gonna say is that I'm officially ready for a full album. Please Sm, you've got my attention, give it to me quickly.

Plus, I actually hope that the b-sides allude to the universe and story. I think there's a lot of ways they could go with it. Concept albums are a thing you know.

Not filler but an appetizer. I like how they didn’t mention anything about the album until the day the song came out because the hype is getting results even for a pre-release. It’s charting well, and gave good views (surpassed their debut which is always a good thing). Imagine if they said there will be an album in the future from the beginning instead of promoting the single, then the attention would be just as much as any bside.
