What are your current classes

  • Mainly a question for those still currently in school. If you're not still in school you can try answering with some of the classes that you used to have.

I have English Pre-AP, Personal Communications, Physical Science Integrated, Algebra I, Spanish II, Advanced Women's Choir, Health and Medical Terminology. I'm in 9th grade and graduating in a month so I'm almost a 10th grader.

  • My school has a TAG program(Talented and Gifted), so my classes are:

TAG Science, TAG Language Arts, TAG Advanced(basically Pre-AP) US History, Geometry, Business Information Management, Spanish II, and Fundamentals of Computer Science.

    I'm in 8th grade currently.

Woah a lot of those classes you have are only high school clases where I live

We don't have a TAG program. Well we kind of do but it's for 6th grade and under and it's in a seperate building. They have one sort of in high school but you don't get selected for it you get to choose it and it's off campus.

Ooh really? Perhaps it's just because we have different school districts, or it varies from states :melon_think:

Yeah that's interesting. Spanish I is the highest you can go in middle/junior high. US History is a normal class for 8th grade and Geometry is a 9th grade class. The other ones other than your TAG would be considered CTE classes here which are only high school classes. Are the classes that I mentioned normal or because you're in TAG?

Our Spanish is broken up into 3 levels- Spanish 1A, 1B, and II in middle school.

Geometry actually is a high school class for us, but since I'm in TAG, I'm able to take it while I'm in 8th grade. Math for the TAG program is always like one level ahead. As for my other classes, those are electives that we can take.

Oh, what's the difference between 1A and 1B? For middle school the choices were Beginner's Spanish which is basically the equivalent of elementary Spanish in a Spanish speaking country. And Spanish I which was pretty hard but Spanish was always easy for me.

In high school we have 3 foreign languages and one of them is Spanish and it goes from Spanish I-IV and Spanish for Native Speakers

Oh that makes sense. Also we didn't really have elective choices until high school except for choir, band, orchestra, and most school sports. Math is hard for me but I would be taking Geometry or Algebra II this year if I took Algebra I last year.

1A and 1B are pretty much just level 1 broken into two levels.

  • US class seems so different to UK class

When I was your age I did

B-Tec Performing Arts (It’s coursework based so no exam and I studied drama music and dance over two years)

Double Award Science (Physics, chemistry, biology)

English Literature (novels, plays and poems)

English Language (as in grammar, short story writing, not learning the English language lol)

    Geography

Religion (I went to catholic school so we all do religion until our final two years of high school)

P.E (gym class, mandatory until our final two years)

    Business Studies

    Irish Language

    Spanish

Maths (mandatory until our final two years)

A Level is our final two years of school before uni and you pick 3 subjects only

  • I completed GE Requirements (IGETC) to transfer to UC's. Hopefully when I get into UCI, I can focus on my major (Business Administration) and maybe minor or even major in a foreign language. I took 4 years of Spanish in high school. And I did the IB Diploma Program at my high school. I also served on ASB (Student Government) for two years. Skipped a year of math in middle school. I made it up to Calculus 2 in College. Also, I took Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Micro and Macro economics, and Accounting. And I had music classes in Violin for 3 years. I also took Hip Hop and a Voice class (music) at my college. There were also fun classes such as Mass Communications, Philosophy, Interpersonal Communications, Cultural Anthropology, Public Speaking, Computer Information Systems, Ethnic Studies, and more. It was pretty cool actually. Make the most of it! Don't just stick to the norm and be sure to explore your interests. You won't regret it.

    Hey there~
