It’s not happening here but on social media and Reddit they’re saying she shouldn’t be nominated because song is in English and she’s not Korean . To me that’s xenophobia to exclude her due to nationality and ethnicity. I don’t think people should even have that conversation about a person that trained in system and is in a Kpop group.
I ask this question what makes a song Kpop?
Many Kpop songs are in English and use western producers and writers, so does that discredit it from being Kpop?
This is just another episode of kpop fans and agkaes being xenophobic and hateful towards Lisa.
Lastly, born again wouldn’t be my pick from the selection, but there’s no need to send hate and discredit her because she won . Also this isn’t aimed towards you but more so the current conversation about this

She will forever be associated with kpop because she's in one of the biggest kpop group ever. I don't think her nationality should come into question about recognition. Maybe VMAs should exclude songs that include western features, but Lisa's nationality should not be in discussion when talking about best kpop because that has nothing to do with if she should be nominated. It's not the boest song by a Korean award.

I do agree these songs aim more for a global audience than a kpop audience. However, the songs will be associated with kpop because the artist have a kpop idol background. I think blackpink members will need to be years removed from the group to shake off being categorized in kpop category unless they get a hit in America and UK like APT.

Oh please, any hate towards Lisa is discredited in your book... it's so obvious that you have normalized this... at this point I really question whether she is even a person to "blinks"... the fandom's double standards and unhidden resentment is insane in 2025 as equal or even worst then Jennie Lazy gate in 2018/2019
