[theqoo] LET ME LAY OUT THE SITUATION WITH SONG DAEUN AND JIMIN'S FANS RIGHT NOW

Song Daeun originally appeared on Heart Signal as an aspiring actress. Just from the personality she showed on the show, you could tell she was the kind of person who gets hurt easily and is sensitive to the atmosphere around her. A male cast member openly declared he liked her, and once she got 'claimed' like that, she couldn’t even end up with the person she actually liked because of the vibe around her.

When you go on Heart Signal, you gain public recognition, which can lead to drama appearances (e.g. Shin Seulgi), or at least sponsorship deals and influencer opportunities. At first, she was doing well, but then she started dating Jimin, and that’s when everything turned into hell.

ARMYs started digging through her daily posts, trying to find traces of Jimin. They spread it around among themselves, claiming she was his girlfriend. When the Instagram harassment started, Song Daeun denied the relationship and explained that they weren’t even personally close.

If you’re going to talk about whether they dated, this is what matters, even when she clearly said they weren’t dating, ARMYs still wouldn’t let her go.

There were two camps:

1. 'They were dating, why did you make it obvious?'

2. 'You weren’t even dating, are you mentally ill? A stalker? Did you move just to follow Jimin? Why did you act like you were dating?'

Those are just summaries, the actual comments ranged from 'D*e' to insulting her family and dog, and even d**th threats. They literally spammed every post she uploaded: selfies, daily life, anything with hate.

She publicly denied dating him, yet they still kept harassing her. So how could she possibly expand her career?

For rookie actors or influencers, Instagram is basically their portfolio. When brands consider working with them, they check their public image and comment sections. But once her comments started turning toxic, she couldn’t continue her influencer career.

Whenever she went live, ARMYs would flood in, spread rumors, ask weird questions. They even spread those rumors across online communities, which led to her getting dropped from ads and dramas. Song Daeun had to explain everything alone.

After she was effectively cut off from the entertainment industry, she started working part-time at a cafe, then ARMYs flooded the cafe with calls to get her fired, so she ended up quitting.

Even after she stopped posting actively, hate comments continued no matter what and if she tried to stay silent, they’d say, 'See? She really is mentally ill.' But if she tried to subtly confirm she had dated him before, they’d say, 'She’s milking the past for attention.'

No matter what she did, they painted her as mentally unstable.

If Song Daeun hadn’t been an actress/influencer, she might’ve been able to defend herself, but she was in a situation where she couldn’t even quit Instagram, and she endured that for 6 years. It wasn’t just one or two people either, there were tons of them attacking her. How could anyone withstand that? When she finally exploded, she released a blurred ad video and admitted they had dated, but even then, people just said she was crazy. 'That was in the past, not now,' and so on.

She got email spammed with hate, DMs, comments, even death threats and insults toward her family for six years, through the same channels where she would normally receive business inquiries.

I remember following her back in the Heart Signal days because I thought she was pretty, but eventually unfollowed because the comments got too messy and she kept fighting with haters. I recently googled her out of curiosity and was shocked this is still ongoing.

For six years, the narrative among ARMYs has been divided into:

- 'They used to date'

- 'She was just pretending to date him alone'

- 'They never dated and she’s just delusional'

And ARMYs have acted like demons over it.

To put it simply, no one knows when exactly they dated, or whether they still are, but the har***ment has continued regardless. The reason she posted the recent video is probably because she still doesn’t know peace. That’s why this situation is different from Joshua's. ㅠㅠ

I don’t even have any connection to Song Daeun. Back when Heart Signal was airing, I was in the 'Young-Joo' campㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ. I just followed her six years ago because she was pretty, and I knew ARMYs were harassing her. Now that I heard it’s still going on, I just felt bad and wanted to post this.

Like, what is she supposed to do?

I didn’t even know who Song Daeun was until recently because of all the drama, I just think she’s pitiful, honestly.

No matter what she does, they lose their minds.

So if she is dating him, she deserves to be endlessly hated?
