Do you think Hybe can make another BTS

  • BTS were an enigma to the industry. If Bang Bang invested the amount of time he did in them with another group. Possibly. However, they originally came from a small company so I don't think it's likely.

Changed the title of the thread from “Do you think Hype can make another BTS” to “Do you think Hybe can make another BTS”.
  • He'll have each group copy from each other so much that they aren't distinguishable from each other 😅

To make another 'BTS' a different model is needed. However he just wants to make all the group clones of BTS. Why the fans would go to a clone if they could still access the real thing? But Bang is now surrounded by sycophants so he can't get the message.

  • They had potential with new jeans but that went down the drain.

I have a theory that companies DONT want a BTS, they want multiple “TXT’s” or “EN-”. That is a group should be big but not so big that they become bigger than the company name.

The only way to have BTS is to have the exact same conditions as them : a small company that was willing to put everything they have on their artist without considering their own brand because that didn’t exist yet.

When you have a company brand that’ll always come before the artist.

Imo the next BTS (if it ever happens) will not be from any of the big4 but will be another smaller artist who blows up due to some innovative viral music or promo.

I've seen videos on Twitter overlaying Hybe songs with other Hybe MVs, and they do kinda mesh together, which was quite funny.

Exactly 💯 You have TXT and Enhyoen doing rock songs, and you would think they were from one group, not two.

The only one I think could've given hima wake-up call was MHJ, but she... well.. we know how that has gone.

  • It's all about brand recognition in SKorea. No company wants to be outshone by its product, and the same applies to Hybe. They have BTS, but they are an anomaly from before Hybe became Hybe.

NewJeans represented a threat to their brand, so it's easier to copy the production of each group and replicate it. That was the crux of the matter in MHJ'd first press conference (which seems to have been buried by other things). She wasn't criticising the girls, it was their production and formula (which seems to have been validated by Belift using her production presentation for NewJeabs debut).

I agree with the next BTS coming from a small company. I think FiftyFifty had the potential, but we know what happened there, too.

Even Zico's ZB1 has become like Hybe-ish. Zico appears to be comfortable as a label owner and has settled down.

Which means all the acts from Hybe will be just like BTS and no differentiation, which means no comparative advantage.

And it is unlikely to get better.

I think you mean BoyNextDoor... unless he produces ZB1 too?

That aside, the production value of all the groups has taken a turn for the worse, with mediocre sound that can't be deciphered from one another group.

  • Figures. So that is the Hybe culture which might have led Kim Taeho, the head of Belift, to overplay his cards.

In all honesty, following the production and management style of Ador would've produced better results for each label (and not asking for cheat sheets from eachother to use as a basis to create a new group).

Ador would have led Hybe to a new renaissance, although it would have made MHJ a billionaire herself. But Kim Taeho ruined it, and given that Bang treated Illit in the same way as Katseye, Bang has not forgotten.

The saga has perfectly summed up that to get ahead in Hybe, you have to kiss ass with BSH, and there's a tinge of misogyny in the corporation. I think BSH felt threatened by the rapid rise of NewJeans, as IIRC, their rise wasn't expected to be so rapid, only to be compounded successful CBs back to back. NewJeans wasn't just a threat to him, but to the brands of Hybe and BTS (over the years to come). He wouldn't want another group to outshine something he worked hard for, for over ten years, to see another group rise so fast under his company in under a year.
