Will MNET ever have another girl group as successful as IZ*ONE?

  • Objectively speaking, their last BIG survival show girl group was IZ*ONE.

Their popularity in korea was unmatched and they also made waves in asia, especially japan.

Since Izone’s disbandment no other girl group from an mnet survival show has really been as influential and successful as Izone was. So do you think if mnet does another survival show, will they get a girl group as big as izone this time around or has their luck run out? :whatr:

  • Look I LOVE Iz*One but Kep1er and ME:I both are still active and extremely successful many years after their seasons aired. They still have really high album sales and maybe we could have had that with IZ*One too had they not disbanded but that is not where we are. Therefore in the long run both of those groups ended up more successful than IZ as they were able to still maintain being a group even when contracts were up and were able to move to different companies. So the answer to your question is yes, they have had 2 successful groups after IZ.

ME:I is from Produce Japan which also aired on MNET.

  • They're kind of trying

It'll probably flop, as the money is in K-pop, not rap. If I'm going to hip-hop/K-pop, I'm going to listen to a YG group instead.

That aside, Mnet (well, the production company) could try and replicate the format of Boys Planet, as ZB1 is extremely successful, as they have consistently sold over a million with each comeback since their debut, and sold over 300,000 copies of their Japanese EP.

And it will tank. If I wanna listen to rap I’m definitely not going for khip hop :boredr:

  • there is rumor that Girls Planet 999 season 2 will be broadcasted in 2026

I always believed that survivals with more trainees attract more attention

    I-LAND 2 had just 24 girls

just 10 girls were in final

even with that pretty nice amount of people watched that final live

    but to multiply it

what they need is to take 99-109 trainees

and make sure it will be a bigger group

one or pros of IZ*ONE was that group had tons of members

    there was 12 girls

this means more drama in semi-final and then in final

the main goal should be to keep people interested as long as it's possible

so maybe create something like Universe Ticket had when Elisia got upgraded rank and made her a confirmed group member before finale

another good point would be like it was in survival shows where trainees got ranked in grades/classes and aimed to go up but some of them also got downgraded during show and later on needed to buckle up and fight for better spot to survive

  • Mnet should definitely bring back the larger lineups. Idk why they even have survival shows with a vast amount of girls only for 7 or 9 to make it…feels redundant.

Another 11 or 12 member gg for a survival would make waves.
