Let's rip off another band-aid today. BLACKPINK isn't releasing new music this year

I'm not gonna hold out hope for a new album, but I'll be really surprised if they are going into a tour without ANY new music. Unless they are planning to lean heavily into the solo stuff which would be odd imo
It would also be very YG. And I don't see how their timeline is realistic, when the girls were only just in Korea all at the same time for the first time (as far as we know) last week
My bet is a full album with 4 songs
with 2 songs being instrumentals

while I do somewhat agree on the timeline, we are in a post covid world in 2025. They do not need to be in the same room in order for work on the album to commence. We shall see.

So they're not even going to perform the song? Film a MV together? Learn choreo together? They do have to spend a good amount of time physically together to pull that off.
And if they're just releasing a digital single, that's even MORE disappointing and wouldn't be very K-Pop honestly.

Well yea of course they need to be together for those things, I wasn't implying otherwise. But it's not like the project team for BP has been sitting around twiddling their thumbs until the members are physically in Korea. I'm just assuming a lot of the work can be done asynchronously and so the timeline might not be as tight as it seems, maybe I'm wrong.
Also recording an MV is like 1-2 days. Idk how long it takes veteran idols to learn choreo but I doubt it's anymore than a few days.

This is kind of a nightmare scenario.
If I wanted to enjoy their solo work, then I want a full concert of ONLY their solo work like Jennie's RUBY experience.
And if I go to a BLACKPINK tour, I want there to at least be a new album of music to enjoy since their Born Pink tour.
This is setting up for a half baked combination of the two.
K-Pop concerts aren't cheap, and BP's are some of the most expensive.
I have very little faith in YG.
Blackpink is a group in name only. We all know that, even Blinks probably know it deep down although they obviously dont want to admit it. The group died the second they left YG for solo labels.

I think Blackpink will release their album late May or early June. During Shut Down they released their album around one month before the tour so May 30th or June 6th would be logical date for the album. If they are gonna release pre-release, it will most likely be 2 - 4 weeks before that. Usually comebacks have been announced 2 weeks before release, so I would expect something earliest during Coachella weekend.

anything is possible and they still have a few months to go
