Do you think BP solo project somehow boost the group popularity too ?

  • I don’t think it boosted their popularity cuz only APT was a hit. And people know it because of Rosé and Bruno. Many people don’t even know that Rosé is from BP.

It helped to maintain their popularity? Absolutely. Now their upcoming cb depends on YG. How he will promote it and the quality of the songs. If they will produce the same old tt since D4, then the song won’t skyrocket.

  • I don't think so. I am unsure if a hit like APT created more blackpink fans. Most likely the same sentiment regarding the others efforts. They most likely gained for their solo efforts but I don't think it translated to more blackpink fans

  • What are y'all saying... ofcourse it helps... we already see so many locals checking out the girls individual music and ofcourse they will surely check out once BP comes back but whether they will like it or not will depend on the song...

But has YG ever known what to do with a diamond :whatr:

  • I don't think we'll see a comeback on the level of HYLT, I think there's a lot more than just BPs popularity that went into making that comeback what it was, the obvious thing being COVID time. I do think it could be bigger or as big as their last cb though. I would think their solo work could only improve their popularity, even if it is just marginal.

Will the initial splash of it be huge? Of course, it's BP. It'll do super well but at the end of the day, the longevity of the song will depend on the quality of the song. Hopefully YG can deliver.

  • Blackpink took them here. It's only logical that the more they get individually known by the public, they bring more popularity to the group. Their solo plataforms aligned with BP's promotions are going to bring even more recognition to the group once they comeback.

The girls make sure they mention BlackPink on interviews and do talk about each other. Their solo activities aren't meant to distance them from BlackPink.

Now, I can see how this new individual careers chapter might turn the girls less eager to work as BlackPink for now. The taste of solo success, accomplishment, freedom and indepence may scream louder and the BP's activities, including the world tour set for this year, might get pushed back.

  • It's impossible to quantify at this point in time, but I strongly suspect they're actually losing steam as a group thanks to all these solo projects. I mean we're talking about a group whose fandom was always in actuality 4 competing fandoms with different agendas, even before they went solo. They're not going to encourage anyone to listen to BP.

  • yes only in that it keeps the group relevant in that blackpink's name is still referenced and within the public's thoughts

one way to look at it is would BP's popularity be the same (ie would they be able to maintain the popularity) without the solo stuff?
