    Finally, I had some free time to watch Moving Voices again, and now Suzy is the member of the group after Hwasa, and I just realized, I miss her soooooo much as a singer.


    I know she's not a Vocal Giant like Taeyeon, but man, I LOVE her voice. She's kinda like IU in terms of performance. She can melt the hearts of people.


    This performance was Henry's, but I have to start with this. It's so funny, and all of them are cringing so hard.😂 The crowed really hyped them up, like in a Kdrama. It's funny, because I just rewatched "While You Were Sleeping" not long ago. It's still one of my fave Kdrama.

    Suzy is actually one of my favorite soloists.


    I'm not sophisticated enough to know anything about her technical ability as a vocalist.


    But oh do I love her voice.



    Her Yes No Maybe is on my shortlist of greatest solo releases of the past decade. So sensual and beautiful and moody. Given a boost in no small part by the wonderful Wong Kar Wai inspired MV aesthetic.

    And her duet with Park Won is so beautiful and well done... Her voice is angelic and paired so well in this song with Park Won.

    I agree so much with this.


    Like IU she just has this quality that transcendences raw technical ability.


    This makes me remember IU's Dear Name live performance... Maybe in my top 5 favorite soloists live performances....


    Don't mean to hijack Suzy focused thread, but this performance has that quality you mentioned...


    She's so convincing that it melts your heart.

    it's a show in the vein of begin again(which starred taeyeon in 1/2 of season 3 with a bunch of others busking in europe[Berlin n Amsterdam for a few/1 day(s) each. Covid kinda put paid to overseas begin again so it pivoted to in Korea only busking, but the same producers made Moving Voices.not sure if it's also on jtbc as I only watched the subbed begin again episodes.

    Some singers are "emotion-first", some singers are "technique-first", though good singers will have both.


    Some singers make the song a vehicle to exhibit their immense vocal abilities.

    Some singers make their voice a vehicle to put forward the essential meaning of the song.


    Both are needed, just which one is the priority, makes the difference. And often it is subtle difference.

    Bad technique can spoil the experience as much as emotionless vocal virtuosity.


    Yes, Suzy like IU - are emotion-first singers.

    Moving Voices is about what the title means. Singers traveling to multiple countries and sing. It's a busking variety show like "Begin Again" was. The singers usually sing their own songs and cover many others. Not sure where you can watch it tho, because I only the first 6 on Bilibili, because Mamamoo fans translated the Hwasa episodes.


    The first performance is special, because Henry Lau wrote the song for Suzy for her drama "While You Were Sleeping". So, he's basically doing a serenade for her. 😅

    I agree. My fave Suzy song is probably "Dream" with Baekhyun, "I Love You Boy", "I'm in Love with Someone else", and maybe "Ordinary Days".

    I prefer her acting more, but she is a good singer too. I preferred the seasons with Sohyun and Lena Park. They are great soloists. I found Taeyeon to be rather boring. She lacks emotion and not very moving when she sings.

    I get it's your preference, but that last part isn't true, at all. Don't know how many songs did you hear from Taeyeon, but she's pretty much the perfect example of using skills and emotions at the same time.


    I mean, this one song kills me every time I hear it!
