NCT's Moon Tae-il (Taeil) indicted for alleged sexual assault of woman with two other men

  • Moon Tae-il of boy band NCT has been indicted for sexually assaulting a woman with two other men, Chosun Ilbo reported Monday.

Moon, the 30-year-old former NCT member, whose real name is Moon Tae-il, was reported for special quasi-rape to the police, according to the news report. The victim was a drunk woman, the report said.

Special quasi-rape is when two or more people collectively assault a victim, or a person sexually assaults another while carrying a weapon, making the victim unable to defend themselves.

Should Moon be found guilty, he could be sentenced to more than seven years, or life.

Prosecutors have not summoned him for questioning yet. He was questioned on Aug. 28, two months after being reported to police.

Moon's agency SM Entertainment announced the next day that he had been booked for a sex crime and that he would quit his band NCT, but did not elaborate on the details of his crime.

The agency did not confirm Monday's report either.

Taeil debuted in 2016 as a member of NCT's subgroup NCT U. He took time off from group activities last year after suffering an injury to his right thigh in a traffic accident on Aug. 15.

  • Part of me is really really angry at him, he was my bias for so many years I just can't help but feel that way. I guess maybe a little big disappointed to? I know no one is perfect and we all make mistakes but this is just a whole another level.

I've even wrote him different letters on weverse in support (that have since now been deleted), and it's just sad.

I hope the woman is alright and she gets all the support she needs, this is never an easy thing to go through.

It's perfectly normal to feel this way. We turn to K-pop to escape from the harsh realities of life. When we find out some of these idols have a dark side to them, we're left disappointed, hurt, and upset.

Never feel guilty about having supported him in the past. You didn't know, so it's not your fault.

    Thank you for this. 🥺

  • This is so sick.

You now have to think twice before supporting an idol. These incidences make me miss my life before I found Kpop, I was never into anyone or followed any celebrity.

I guess this is what will drive me away from Kpop

If he was my bias, I'd be more devastated.

I hope he's innocent coz Ntczens deserve better.
