Chinese idols supporting their country is NOT an option

  • I know i’m a troll but this is a serious topic.

I know muslims are hurt by what those idols and celebrities did and I completely understand. But yall need to realize that China is not a first world country like the US or like a lot of countries in Europe.

China is governed by dictators, there is no democracy there. You don’t have a right of speech, you can’t go against the government. If those idols did decide to go against their country, them and their families could have gotten killed.

You don’t know what happens inside that country. A lot of chinese people who moved from china always talked about people speaking against their country and then suddenly disappearing without seeing them ever again.

China is a really dark and mysterious country just like North Korea. The government is really strict and the laws are harsh. Even if Jackson Wang decide to go against his country, him Nd his family would have gotten hurt and nothing would have changed.

I’m not telling you if you should feel hurt or not but i’m just telling you to not jump on conclusions cause you don’t know what happens inside that country.

  • yeah you are right,

for anyone that doesn't understand what it's all about... should watch this

  • Agreed. It really saddens me how kpop stans are attacking these idols when the idols are in a very hard situation. People think that China is very open to tourists so that means it’s a "normal” country but in reality China’s government is very weird and dark to say the least

If u watched avatar the last airbender, China is like Ba Sing Se and the government is the Dai Li.

Changed the title of the thread from “Please stop jumping on conclusion about chinese idols "supporting" their country” to “Chinese idols supporting their country is NOT an option”.
  • Can you make sense of what Elkie did though? She’s from Hong Kong and has never once supported One China, posted anything nor was forced to do so until she left Cube and CLC. She posted it on her Instagram. Again no one forced her to do so.

Also, I do think these Chinese idols know what their doing and what that may entail.

In my opinion sometimes it’s not because they have to do it, it’s for the sake of money and career in China they lose their own dignity.

    Which is what Elkie did.

  • Celebrities who do not vocally support China will get banned in China. Actually, they can get banned if the government deemed that their image goes against their politics. There was an actress who got banned from the industry (and everywhere else actually) because she used a surrogate to gave kids and then decided to put up her kids for adoption. While this may be morally wrong for people, it is not illegal, but the government was still like nuh uh bye. You don't see this kind of things in any other developed countries. I mean, there may be scandals ya, but not out right banning to the point where they can't even order takeout.

So I understand why Chinese celebrities need to show support for government policy if they work in China. I do, however, question those who chose to do it, who don't rely on the Chinese market..... also those who could have just kept silent but decided to speak out anyways.

While I understand why they may need to show support, I also completely disagree with it. So ya, unstan

KEEP TALKING WE SHUT YOU DOWN.

  • Completely agree, and it’s frustrating that people don’t seem to understand that. I get people being disappointed when they see idols supporting China on certain matters, but they need to realise the pressure those idols are under. It’s very likely many of them do not actually support it at all, but it could have serious consequences for them if they don’t speak up in favour.

  • It is still an option though. Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Korean celebrities risk being blacklisted to go against their country when they had a bad government sometime back??

And it’s not all Chinese celebrities who have come out to show support. Some are silent and they have a good cause to do so. If you are scared then at least don’t speak at all. Showing your support is the same vein as asking to be praised after you feel you have done something “good” for your country.

I understand some people who say they have families to protect but we will never know if that is why they decided to speak up. That celebrity who overlooked their own people’s misery, I wonder what they are trying to protect by defending the government.

It’s not all the time you have to agree with what your country’s government does. There’s a reason why revolutions and coup d’etat exist
