would bang si-hyuk's example group for star power be meovv

  • if you don't know what bang si-hyuk said, he said and I quote "Star power holds much more value than a skill of a trainee or an individual in the K-pop industry." ,"Usually, people believe that skill is the most important part, but for me, it's star power." and "This explains a lot about the company." in katseye's documentery on netflix - people were really shocked to hear this, including me since skills should be more important than visuals

and now i know what he means when he said this, i cant believe im agreeing with this blood money person, but he is right and an example would be meovv and how they were popular even before debut even though we have never heard them sing or dance- their aura that they gave off to me is a well established group and not rookie vibes

looking at meovv's trailers, they were all visual based, and people really liked the aura that they give off, as for the performances, the main thing that stayed consistent is their visuals - even though i didn't like the song, i really liked their stage presences or in bsh terms, "star power"

so as you can see, bsh was right when he said that star power is everything since it pulls people in, anyone can dance and sing, but not everyone has the capability to be keeping in a whole crowd

  • Skills are 1000% very important but charisma is what draws people in and in terms of kpop, gives them a reason to commit to dedicating a good amount of time and money into stanning.

People love feeling like they know the idol or can relate to them or look up to them. Now I know there can be flaws in that, but it’s the reality of how many stans pick out their beloved groups.

If you’re the world’s best singer but you also have an RBF and an unmarketable personality, then your skills can only get you so far.

Not to mention chemistry with other group members..

Edit: I realize I didn’t actually answer the question but my response is that I don’t know because I wasn’t entranced by what Meovv has put out so far.

  • that's because in kpop

skills and talent only gets one so far

visuals, charisma, attitude, likeability matter far more (and thus one could class those other factors under star power)

  • Like BM, MEOVV don't have the start that BP had at debut and for YGE and TBL, that's the measure of Star Quality, at least for a Group.

Will there be a Global Star Quality member like Jennie in MEOVV or maybe a Star Quality Performer like Lisa? Because SiHyuk's point about talent is right when Jisoo and Rose are the Vocal talents for BP.

Jennie and Lisa, hard carried BP when they were basically doing nothing, that is, not releasing Group Music, having Comebacks or being in the dungeon not doing Variety Shows.

It's too early to see what MEOVV will do but, BlackPINK is probably the GG that SiHyuk was referring to with Star Quality.
