I know you don't have ill intentions, probably is just confused about how It's happening. But the reason why Twitter is banned is totally Elon Musk's fault.

In our country, hate speech might be a crime. Elon Musk refused to colaborate with investigations regarding some people and their disguting content who were using twitter to spread such hate speech. To "punish" our governament for being against what he calls "free speech", he removed all legal representatives of X in Brazil and here It's illegal a social media to operate without such represensatives.

Elon Musk thinks that, just because he's a piece of shit with money, he's above a country's law and Alexandre gave a time for him to indicate representatives for the social media to keep operating, but he refused and It is the consequence.

So don't fall for the fallacy of right-wing brazilians and Elon Mush himself spreading It's ditactorship/censorship. They are doing their best to make It look like It isn't Elon Musk's fault.

  • that's the exact thing.

Its X that is shit at this, and now they are "discussing".

How hard is it to just hire a law firm to represent?

    Come on.

And who suffers? People who actually want to be informed.

X is very very right winged, agreed. But so are others.

Then again there are people that just check it for Kpop. Or whatever.

    Who don't care about politics.

  • Sorry but your laws clearly suck and are authoritarian. Brazil is a beautiful country and it is a shame it is being taken over by the left wing totalitarians and becoming a China like state. Well, hanging out with Brics effect I guess.

A lot of laws in Brazil suck, but wanting to punish, for example, n*zis using X to spread hate speech and wanting the contribuition of Elon for these people to have the right punishment isn't one of them. Elon knew It was illegal to operate without representatives of X here, what would make It even easier for people to post whatever they want, even criminal content and that, as a consequence the social media would've to be taken down.

If you think that "free speech" doesn't have to have limitations, I prefer to not continue this discussion.

I would replace limitations with consequences, but otherwise I agree.

  • I know Twitter should have a representative in a country, but any kind of censorship of content creation(of course not s*xual harassment, illegal porn and such vile and disgusting stuff) is just bad, it doesn’t matter if it is pro-Israel, pro-Palestine, pro-Russian, anti-liberal, right-wing, left-wing, radical, pro-western and etc.! If censorship and banning starts to happen when it doesn’t suit government agenda then expect they can ban anything and eventually it will affect everyone! And I don’t support these things even if I’m not a liberal! And I won’t approve of US trying to ban TikTok either, even if they are a democracy!

And Elon Musk should also respect the laws and cultures of different countries! And I’m not a fan of neither Elon nor Brazilian government!

And in my comment I only mentioned people who thought banning twitter is cute and good idea, but it is not!

I will agree with you with this one! Twitter needs more moderation than any other app, but Government also should make clear and clean laws about how they can punish for creating and spreading disgusting things, because if not they can pull the strings whenever they want with those loopholes in those laws!

Perfect example is Russia! They created such smooth laws that favors government, now they can sue and put to jail any of the social media users that they want, and it happened million times already!

  • I would replace limitations with consequences, but otherwise I agree.

Since English is not my first language, I don't even know If I used the right word. What I mean is that free speech is good, but, as everything is life, It needs to have a balance and you have to use It wisely. Just because you can use Social Media, It doesn't mean you should be saying anything you want without consequences.

Then yes, consequences is the right word.

No worries mate, I got you.

I'm not saying It's the best outcome. It sucks everyone has to pay for things that out of our control, but It was the snowball effect of Elon Musk's choices to avoid exactly this type of things

of course not s*xual harassment, illegal porn and such vile and disgusting stuff)

    Running the plataform without consequences.

Imagine If Alexandre had accepted Elon's decision of breaking a country's law and let his social media keeping operating freely without such supervision. It would just reinforce he indeed can do whatever he wants and he and his social media are bigger and above Brazil and It's laws. That he can do whatever he wants where he wants.

But anyway, apparently they are discussing to reach an agreement.

  • Yes I agree that both parties should do their own duties! And Elon Should not poke his nose into other countries’ matters! And I hate that western countries do that all the time even the corporations!

And Brazil Government should also make very clear laws with no loopholes explaining everything word by word from a to z, so it won’t harm an entire nation, because it already happened both in Ukraine and Russia, and it is very sad!

This is how governments fool you to push authoritarian laws on you. They use nazis and terrorists as an excuse to spy on you and then you never get your rights back. It's been more than 20 years since 9/11, please tell me when we are getting rid of draconian checks in airports? I'll tell you when, never.

You guys are so balls deep in culture war that you see any censorship targeting the "other side" as a blessing, even though laws apply to all of us.

Recently in Germany police wanted Google to dox a person for making fun of a politician for being fat. This is where Brazil is heading.

look, I know you're wrong in the head.

But you cannot compare X being taken out of Brasil with a war where Russia murdered both their soldiers and Ukraine soldiers.

Sometimes I wonder if this site would be better without you in it.

Heck, I got so many reports against you that I won't even have to explain it.

Was 9/11 used as an excuse for higher security measures, or did it simply prove that higher security measures were needed? What would you say if we removed the airport checks and then 9/11 repeated itself? I can think of lots of things the Bush administration did in reaction to 9/11 that were completely unnecessary (and illegal.) You chose to single out probably the most logical step taken, merely because it inconveniences you.

At the end of the day, it was the terrorists who ruined that for you, not the government. The same way Nazis have ruined and continue to ruin people's lives. You either take reasonable, logical measures to minimize further impact from them or allow them to run amok. Someone calling a politician fat is the least of anyone's problems, but you're jumping at an isolated example that is both an unnecessary & unreasonable extreme. If you have a valid argument, you should be able to make it without invoking such extreme examples. Otherwise it gets lost in the hyperbole.

I’m not talking about the war in Russia and Ukraine bfr. I’m talking about censorship and banning social media in those countries! Most liberal people in Russia suffered a lot because of that!

In Ukraine it is the same!

I’m talking only about freedom of speech with right limitations!

I guess I got all of those reports for Victim Blaming! But don’t be a hypocrite admit that other parties threw false accusations and inappropriate names too!

These wasn't any law being pushed, It always existed. Even If Elon Musk wasn't contributing for such investigations, Twitter would continue to exist here despite their internal conflicts. It always had since early 2023, when It started.

It was just after the representatives were removed that the decision was made. It was even publicly informed that the Social Media would continue to operate once Elon set new representatives.

It's not a blessing, but I understand where It came from.

Regardless, there is a possibility It's not a final decision. Let's see where It goes.

never said they did not, hence no wp's

BUT, you are being fake mate.

Censorship always existed and will always exist.

But within a few regulations. The Geneva suggestions for one.

  • I known damn well that Censorship will always exist and existed before, but there is a line that should not be crossed!

As I said twitter needs serious moderation, but also it should not be banned!

And Do you know that even before Russia-Ukraine conflict started, how many people have suffered from those censorship laws in Russia? How many of them have been put in jail? How many of them have di*d?

Just learn to read between the lines before calling me fake! Heck my words don’t even need those skills, I explained them crystal clear in my previous answers

You do realise I am Romanian and grew up when Romania was communist right?

I literally lived the fall of the Berlin wall.

Learn to read between the lines? That's KGB manual page 12 I believe.

    Come on. Do better.

There is nothing solid or real about you mate.

Stop asking people to read between your lines and say what you mean.

Because this is 2024 and this server is in the US.

yeah Mona is, that's why I'm so pissed off

  • I'm on X all the time for sports updates and etc it's not a site you spend a lot of time on but it feels essential who wants to read articles on Google that require subscriptions

I just check my mutuals, which is all Kpop or Cats pages.

If I need politics and such, as a reporter I have AP and Reuters on the news feed for at least 15 years now.

Its just that its stupid. Honestly. Hire a lawyer firm to represent you. Not that hard Elon.

  • I already stated what do I mean several times, I will repeat it for you if you have low comprehension skills!

    Twitter shouldn’t be banned

Social Media apps should not be banned in any country

    Twitter needs serious moderations

Laws regarding punishing and censorship should be crystal clear without vague “definitions” and should have minimum loopholes

And in Social Media apps disgusting and life threatening things should be banned and punished

Tho I now live in US I was born in one of the Republics of USSR and I am a citizen of one those post soviet countries!

And if you witnessed yourself communism and the fall of the Berlin Wall then you should be able to read between the lines as you said!

  • Kazak?

  • What about U.S deciding to ban tiktok?
