Sakura could have easily refused to join Kpop after IZONE and live a comfortable life in Japan without the toxicity in the global entertainment. But she wants to challenge herself despite the odds. :borahae:

  • Sakura could have easily refused to join Kpop after IZONE and live a comfortable life in Japan without the toxicity in the global entertainment. But she wants to challenge herself despite the odds.

    I actually disagree with that

she's very ambitious which is one of the things I like about her but she wants to challenge herself and she learned all that she could being in AKB48 and I think she made the decision to join a kpop group to gain more global success.

She probably sort out a few companies and Hybe probably offered her a great contract to get her which is why she accepted.

now none of the above warrants any harassment or toxicity though

  • Maybe this is my J-pop bias poking out a bit, but I always thought Sakura had placed herself in an amazing position to succeed in all of her groups. While her singing is a let down, huge success in Japan and Korea is difficult to get as an idol, but she has done it consistently and has been at the top with multiple groups. The two fields demand different things, but she has been able to adjust about as well as anyone can. She only has one true weakness on the K-pop side which is singing, but that can be improved upon.

She's still in her first seven years of her latest group, but I've always thought that she will have a top five idol career when it's all said and done. If Le Sserafim keeps up their success, she will end up in the top five alongside the likes of BoA. Depending on her legacy and possible solo work in the future, I would even place her into a top ten greatest idols of all time list :snuggie:

  • She could be making good money streaming as a gamer.

  • the problem is not really that sakura can’t sing, most groups have that one member who often is the visual or rapper.

Sakura is actually a major stan attractor with a big japanese fanbase and a pretty charismatic performer. so she is actually a fine member overall.

the problem is that the whole group can’t sing. and isn't properly vocally trained. (minus chaewon ofc).

and on top of that, they are given songs way out of their range so even chaewon ends up sounding bad at some point.

    that's the problem.

and well since sakura is the weakest vocalist so she gets the most critics. sadly she is like a scepegoat. for the groups bad vocals and now the groups vocal performance failure in coechella.

if for example illit minju was in the group instead of eunchae and Yunjin was properly trained and the two of them alongside Chaewon sang most of their lines and in their range, nobody would bother Sakura really.

    Not to such extent.

  • I really wish they were a bigger group! The more members, the less criticised they are and are able to hide what they’re unconfident in. The less members the more easier it is to critique them individually. I sympathise with her deeply. You can see the damaged done and her anxiety/ fear of being judged singing publicly :( she’s very brave to put this out as no doubt haters and heartless people will use this against them :!:
