Do you think the U. S. Constitution would be amended if Trump becomes convicted?

  • From MSN:

Doug Spencer thinks that if Trump is convicted and then imprisoned, it could tell the country (Congress of course, since they have the power to to amend the U.S. Constitution) with a new section that a candidate for President of the United States must not have been previously incarcerated or convicted of a crime.

    From CNN:

Next Tuesday, we will be in Step 8/12 of a criminal trial: "Closing arguments", followed by "Jury instruction or jury charge", "Jury deliberation", "Verdict", and "Sentencing (if guilty verdict). In that order.

Do you think the U. S. Constitution would be amended if Trump becomes convicted?

  • No amending the process of amending on this issue would be insurmountable.

On the Political wishful thinking. Exploiting the justice system for political ends is in need of some ethics reform.

  • We shouldn't be allowing convicts into public office. Would these politicians have the spine to agree with that sentiment? Probably not.

  • Yes 90% of the Politicians have committed serious crimes. Can only imagine a government without the graft.

Maybe that's in Cuba or some other country where 90% of the politicians committed serious crimes.

  • Not familiar with Cuba. I was saying it about the US government. Fully corrupt beyond belief.

Cuba is fully corrupt. That's why you can see many Cubans in Florida.

  • Agree the US is great its just the politicians need some improvement. Get back to actually representing the People and States.

Interesting about Cuban immigration. I vacationed in Florida for a month. Pretty cool place no wonder most Cubans stayed in Florida. Nevada is next state they moved to. I don't get that one, escaping the humidity?

No idea. I don't know anyone who moved to Nevada from Florida, and I have no idea why you put that Star Wars video.

  • Amending the Constitution is very difficult. They'll just keep on ignoring it, instead.

The U.S. Constitution is easy to understand how to amend.

Constitutional Amendment Process | The Heritage Foundation

There were 10 amendments ratified in the 18th century,

5 amendments ratified in the 19th century,

and 12 amendments ratified in the 20th century (The 27th Amendment was ratified in 1992.)

I agree with Popper-of-Ks because we can have a new amendment in the 21st century.

Amending the Constitution is not difficult, but maybe it is difficult to convince the government to amend the Constitution!

As it should be. Bill of Rights is designed for Individual and States Rights and limiting Federal powers. Amendments increasing Federal involvement is not a good.

Besides there isn't enough TDS in Congress to make the thresholds.

Disagree because I don't think anyone wants a convicted felon for President, not even Congress.

I could run for Congress to introduce the bill.

There still won't be one - because everybody with an IQ over 60 knows all of the current charges against Trump are laughable, fake, and politically motivated. Any conviction will be quickly voided on appeal, but Biden's party will get the short-term headlines and talking points it wants, and that's all they care about.

There is great danger for any nation in not having a real, independent media who can blast these types of malefactors beyond the orbit of Saturn before they have any chance to destroy the justice system for partisan political purposes. Aside from a few voices like Matt Taibbi, Jonathan Turley, and Glen Greenwald - liberals who have clearly documented how the lawfare campaign against Trump is doing profound damage to American jurisprudence - the media has acted as silent partners to government, through both ridiculous impeachments and now these silly court cases. They are State Media, in the truest sense of the phrase. It's no wonder you kids don't even understand how fake and stupid this whole thing is.

You don't have to like Trump's polices to know that misusing the judicial system to go after a political opponent is the action of a Third World dictatorship. The perceived short-term benefits aren't going to be remembered so fondly when a future authoritarian regime starts jailing its opponents using the precedents being set today.

The United States in the 18th century - 10 amendments ratified

The United States in the 19th century - 5 amendments ratified

The United States in the 20th century - 11 amendments ratified

The United States can ratify another amendment in the 21st century.

I thought the attack on January 6th, 2021 was a real event that's not laughable, real, politically motivated to prevent Biden from being certified as the winner of the 2020 presidential election, and even got Trump impeached because of that and has a court case for that. I don't think Trump can appeal violence that has been documented already.

Yeah, go ahead and link State-O-Pedia to prove your argument. ¬‿¬

Trump told the J6 protestors to go home early on - loudly and clearly. Whatever silly things a few of them did later, after being allowed into the Capitol by the Capitol Police (or maybe they just shoved that 13,000 pound door open all by themselves?) is on a few of the individual actors, and has nothing to do with Trump.

J6 was a Pelosi/Media-produced theatrical performance. Stupid, fake nonsense. Too bad so many people still haven't seen through it. Had it been any kind of real insurrection 1,000 or so MAGA hat-wearing guys with AR-15's could have taken the Capitol virtually unopposed. Our so-called representatives realized how vulnerable they were a little late, and then had a five alarm freakout over what might have happened - not what did happen.
