At this point, people can stop saying that the chart is frozen cause obviously u can chart well so as long as you have the interest.

Changed the title of the thread from “Brave Girls We Ride charting in MelOn 24hits” to “Brave Girls 'We Ride' chart on MelOn 24hits TOP60”.
  • i hope so, it's a really catchy song and way better than rollin imo.

but op, i don't think you should use their situation to deny the difference in charts pre and post reform, i believe that unless you have a mega viral hit (BG case) that makes ppl interested not only in that one song but your whole persona or you're a household name such as iu, bts, paul kim, bp, etc. your chances to enter are way harder than before since ppl just basically listen to melon top 100 which haven't changed much since the reform.

Yes you have a good point here. The charts are not "frozen" per se, but it *is* more difficult to rise up to the top of the charts quickly in the post-Reform era. I'm currently working on an analysis of Melon weekly rankings over the past couple years, and I do have data to back up this claim.

Oh yes, of course I will create a thread detailing my results. Since the Reform occurred last July, there have been many claims of the charts being "frozen".

There is some anecdotal evidence of this (e.g. the performance of "Dynamite"), but as far as I know, nobody has backed up these assertions with a comprehensive review of actual Melon data. What I have seen so far with my analysis is that yes, there are indeed differences in post-Reform chart behaviour that are worthy of our consideration.

I dont think people are denying difference between pre and post reform. These changes are actually what Melon intended. Songs, especially big hits, supposed to stay on top for some time.

Before reform, there were so many songs hitting the top10 or even #1 but many of those fall off after a while. Only some stick around. It basically makes the chart more volatile and some of these #1 are not as valuable/meaningful as they were strongly fandom driven.

Now the reformed chart basically eliminate the ability of songs to shoot straight to #1 due to fandom. But the side effect is like what you said, many songs are harder to crack the top10 due to lack of exposure. If your song is big enough, u can stay on top for quite a while (ala Dynamite) but if your song couldnt garner enough interest, it might not even crack top 10

One more thing that happened to alot of popular names is that the song touched top10 but then tanked. Akmu, epik high, taeyeon r examples. Akmu and epik high even got 1M uls with their previous comebacks.

Whilst you do have your point, i actually inclined to think differently. People seems to forget that while some popular groups failed to crack top10, some actually DID. Shinee, the webtoon song, IU (needless to say) and many more. I actually think this new chart reflects the normal chart like BB Hot100 or spotify chart. Real-time and daily charts are easily manipulated but ULs are difficult

Like I said, these popular names they have the sufficient initial interest to crack the top 10 but the song might not stick well with listeners. As ULs fall, they continue to tumble down the chart. It is like those #1 debut songs on BB HOT100, e.g. Stuck with you, it debut at #1 but quickly fell down from the chart. It did had enough interest initially but the hype just wasnt enough to sustain as GP are required
