can Somi ever recover from her "Starbuck" controversy?

  • Its not going to hurt her. She was an easy and convenient target as she doesn't have a huge fandom.

It could have spiraled out of control, but many photos of many other idols with a starbucks drink surfaced, including recent ones. Then the hypocrites who were on the bandwagon to cancel her quickly shut up.

Hypocrisy is the worst. I have no problems if folks wanna boycott whatever but boy oh boy, when the hypocrisy starts pouring out of their mouths, that's when i give them a hard sideeye. And you're right, all the performative activism sure came to a screeching halt when half the industry busted out their Starbucks pics lol.

Only older folks like me are allowed to be hypocritical, we're old, we've done our tours of duty, senior privilege. :flower-cutie:

  • Once again Twitter proving it has no power or relevance in the real world. Another nothing controversy for children without real world experience to pretend anyone with love cares about.

The same time they are making us think Starbucks is cancelled and yet the hottest trend among teens in the US right now is Stanley cups and the Starbucks Collab is sold out everywhere and re sale value has them at 150-300 bucks...cos yknow...no one uses Starbucks anymore right? Twitter told me so.

  • The world is filled with people who are desperate to find something to support and all that.. first it was me too, then it was BLM now it's Gaza.. once people find something else to post and spam about the they'll move on.

You can't take these people seriously, they're not sincere. They're an army of crazies. And I don't care if this looks blunt. People cancelling someone for drinking a coffee regardless of the context. Yes it's an American brand yes America is on the side of Israel.

But America is its own nation with its own interests it's politics, it's not our place as civilians to somehow deprive ourselves of things to make some sort of statement.

Hey if that's what you want then go ahead.. imma eat my bigmac and post stories about it .. kidding I don't eat McDonald's but if I did I wouldn't stop coz of a war that's not my fault.

  • that's right she was in a controversy for drinking starbucks right?

As I've always said I'm all for cancel culture and all that - if a person wants to cancel someone for whatever reason that's their choice just as if a person wants to defend someone that's also their choice

and if enough people cancel (or defend) well that's just democracy no?
