Granted, I cited Melon more often than not, since the Only Singer who Did not Fear BTS in the Entire World had based herself in Melon.
The Only Singer who Did not Fear BTS in the Entire World could afford to do it, because she was confident that the records she established in Melon was invincible, even by BTS, although now NewJeans might be giving her a big run on the money. At least Akmu, a longtime ally of the Only Singer who Did not Fear BTS in the Entire World, is keeping others off from Melon for now.
In the infamous KPop Global Map of 2022, Korea consisted a whooping 10.2% of the entire world , and the Koreans, out of all the countries surveyed, had a very strange result. BTS was #1 in Kpop in most countries, BlackPink led in some Southeast Asian country, and only in Korea the Only Singer who Did not Fear BTS in the Entire World was considered to be the #1 there.
So,. if we continued to count Melon, which is only representing about 10% of the entire KPop universe, the Only singer who did not fear BTS in the Entire World and the likes of her would be seen as much more important than they actually are.
Melon was on its last legs earlier this year, but the acquisition of SM by Kakao Entertainment (which owns Melon), the fiasco of Fifty Fifty who did NOT believe in Melon, and the defeat of Jungkook by Akmu in Melon now significantly contributed to the resurgence of the ancient digital chart of Korea.
I have written at least 2,000 posts to describe the awkward position The Only Singer who DID NOT fear BTS in the Entire World, and her inflated importance is entirely due to her dominance in Melon, which is ultimately owned by the company which owns her (although such situation did not change when she owned her own company Jan 2020 - Apr 2022).
I think it might be necessary for the ifans to abandon Melon, not mention it, and not consider the poorer showings of newer acts in Melon since it represents Korean tastes, only representing 10% of the entire KPop fans.
That way, we can forget the trottists, Akmu and The Only Singer in the Entire World who Did not Fear BTS, and move on to the newer paradigm of KPop.
