Stray Kids had +2.5 million applications for their 8-date Dome Tour on Japan and went all sold out in 5 minutes!

  • damn, was case 143 really that huge in jpn or was the fandom slowly growing over time? seems kinda funny that it was a song in korean to blow up there instead of their previous jpn titles

it's really impressive especially since they don't have any japanese members or ties to japan, they didn't even promote that heavily there until recently

i'm really scared about the ticketing for the european tour ;(

Their fandom have been consistently growing over time since the year they debuted on Japan. Have in mind their japanese single and first original japanese song(s) (TOP/Slump) charted on Oricon for 160 weeks and It's the 8th longest-charting single on Oricon all time. Yes, overall, alongside only japanese singers on the Top 10.

All In sold more than SKZ2020, Scars sold more than TOP, Circus sold more than All In. All before Case 143.

They were that potential waiting for the opportunity to blow up. And Case 143 was that opportunity, since It got viral and gained traction with people who weren't fans/interested in Stray Kids.

A hit benefits everyone when It happens, but for boygroups especially, since they naturally get dedicated fans easier than other demographies due fandom culture, when they get such exposure, It takes them to a whole new level.

Sony Music Japan also did an amazing job when Case 143 gained traction. Quickly, they had a japanese version, a new MV, tv shows, year-end festivals, youtube show (on Japan)

  • the only good thing to come out of case 143 was the jpn success then :boompepe:

  • Not having Japanese members has never been an obstacle in Japan, TVXQ's return from the Military had over a million in Concert/Fan Attendance in a year and they were in their 20th year

it's not always the same for every group tho. Sometimes one or two members from other countries can help with the group's popularity easier than not having any of them. I'm not saying it's not possible but I'm saying it's easier. If anyone from my country was a kpop idol, I would've definitely supported them. It's a lot like that.
