TW// A company that lets SA happen to girls should be boycotted. Period.

  • The fan sign was under Hybe Labels Japan and arranged by that specific label. New Jeans is under Ador... If you were going to boycott something, it would make more sense to boycott Hybe Labels Japan. The group who this fansign was for is a rookie group that debuted in December. They don't have millions of dollars or a very big fandom and they're still building a presence in Japan and Korea. A boycott would actually harm them a lot and that's not something Luné are considering at all. Our fandom (Luné) is addressing the issue.

Edit: HLJ sucks ass, so I'm not surprised they found a new way to suck even more.

This is a good point. It all depends on where the security orders came from. Whether HYBE itself is making these final decisions or if the label is acting more independently.

  • Fans should never be treated lightly, but I side-eye your motives for suggesting this when you made continual derogatory posts about idols. I mean you did just rant about how you figured BP would probably all marry white men...

Seems like you want to hurt idols at any cost and are wrapping that thinly disguised movement to "boycott the companies" by alienating the idols when there are other avenues - such as filing lawsuits and getting media coverage - that would bring a lot more attention and oversight to the actual issues instead of just saying "boycott newjeans" :huuh:

I didn’t criticize or rant. It’s just an observation of the kinds of partners Asian female celebrities end up with when they work or advance in the West. Such as Lucy Liu, Zhang Ziyi, Ayumi Hamasaki, Michelle Yeoh, Maggie Cheung, Devon Aoki, Brenda Song, Gong Li, among others. And for kpop that would be new, as idols mostly only dated or married other Koreans.

In the end, everything is about money and companies will only listen when their bottom line can be affected . I’m not saying boycott NJ forever. And it depends on who gave the final approval for the extreme security, but boycotting should be on the table when these egregious incidents occur due to policy and actions of the company.

Koreans are boycotting 5050 because they sued their CEO. Nobody is crying about that. Wendy had her two racial comments and Irene had her gapjil controversy. Some people boycotted entire RV for it, and it's why they never came close to Twice's level of success in America. That's just the fact of life, when segments of a population are outraged or offended. Even the people not directly responsible are affected in some manner. But there was never any fight for justice where everyone came out unscathed. But you always want those most responsible to take the brunt.
