Travis Japan released their 2nd single "Moving Pieces" which is also in English again

  • It's been a while since my first thread based on the group over half a year ago. Back in 2022 Travis Japan debuted with the single "JUST DANCE" to promote themself as the "international" boygroup of Johnny's Entertainment. Back than Travis Japan apeared on a lot international dance competitions and also 'America's Got Talent' before their debut. JUST DANCE hit now 14 million views on Youtube and 2.8 million streams on Spotify. They are also the first group of Johnny's who are on streaming services since debut, cause most artists are either not on Spotify or the few who menaged to be on Spotify have big pieces of their discography missing. Johnny's Entertainment is also curently prioritising that all their artists join Instagram, Twitter and TikTok instead of going into streaming platforms. Untill 2019 people thought that Johnny's even using Youtube and social media would never happen. It's unclear for now if anyone else would ever join Spotify outside of Johnny's artists ARASHI and KAT-TUN, besides Travis Japan, where of KAT-TUN most of their discography is missing on streaming since Johnny's only posts what came out in 2021 and newer.

The new song of Travis Japan, aswell as the style of the MV are totally different to their debut MV from October 2022. JUST DANCE was a colorfull themed song about dancing, which even got a few people kinda mad, mainly cause a few haters claimed it would be a cheap BTS rip-off due to being in English, a song about dancing, gathering international (mainly American) fans, also having the same production team that filmed the MV as those who filmed one of BTS's MVs and so on.

Their new single is totally different to their debut track and goes into a different direction than what they tried with JUST DANCE. What do you guys think of this song?

  • did they modernize their sound and image

    Might be the producer. IDK

I looked at who produced JUST DANCE, barly found info on the producer but one of them is a country singer, one of them posted videos where he cover sings random pop songs on Youtube and the 3rd one calls himsels "douche bag" on Instagram xD

There is also a name as producer for JUST DANCE who's website he owns has a post on it that says this guy apparenty also produced for people like ASAP ROCKY, Demi Lovato, Kygo, Lil Uzi Vert, Rich Brian and many more.

And the last producer on the list is a dude who was 16 times nominated for a Grammy but never won.

    Meanwhile for Moving Pieces

The dance of the MV was choreographed by Travis Payne, the guy who also created Travis Japan. Travis Payne gained popularity back when he worked with Michael Jackson

The producer of the song is the same guy who produced hits as for example Justin Bieber - Yummy, DJ Khaled - No Brainer, Billy Eilish - Bad Guy,... and so on

  • The song is not as dated yet dated. Just Dance sounds like something No Kid On the Block or Blue could have released back then. This one sounds like EDM from a decade ago.

They seriously need a new stylist. Their fashion seriously reminds me of Seo Taiji and Boys.

They also need more budget and new director for the MV. Overall it looks so cheap and, random inserting objects make it look amateurish. It looks like they gave $20,000 to a graphic art sophomore and told him to make an MV.

I can't even commnet on choreography because of that terrible lighting.

Perhaps, if they sound more J-pop, more exotic/wacky, they may have a chance. If one doesn't care Japanese, this is pretty much down graded/dated K-pop. They definitely need more than this to squeeze themselves into K-pop/BTS market.
