Why Are So Many Male Idols Turning To BL Dramas For Popularity?

  • Easy money and easy popularity. A lot of female k-pop stans are obsessed with BLs and shipping culture, so they will all tune in to BLs. I just wonder if these male idols will leave BLs behind them once they hit it big and act in straight dramas.

Aint that what Bright the Thailand actor did??? Lmaoooo

He acted in a BL once, the series "2gether", and once he got really really popular- he never did BL again and been doing straight movies getting bigger. Cuz now he got himself a nice female fanbase.

Yes, and you can really tell with his awkward acting in 2gether that he did not want to be there. There was no chemistry and it really shocks me that 2gether is people's favorite BL when kinnporshe exists. Like I said I really don't see a lot of these idols continuing in the BL industry, and I think companies have taken note of how popular BLs are in thailand and how easy it is to make their idols more famous.

Forget KinnPorshe, what about Bad Buddy?!!!?!

Ohm and Nanon been my babys ever since I saw it last year.

I got hooked into the show when it was already 8 episodes in.

But maybe it worked with them since they were already bestfriends in real life, so the chemistry and feelings were real.

Its funny cuz it turned out Ohm had a girlfriend since 2021 who he was dating, called Bow.

She come from a well off family with money.

Ohm was tryna be sneaky and hide her, but somehow a few Thai fans found her lmaooo.

They was mad asf finding out he had a girl, cuz he was "supposed to be in love with Nanon" :pepe-narrow-eyes:

  • I feel like some straight females have a certain level of fetish in Asian gay couples. It's something akin to what I see in animes where girls fight almost naked. It's an opportunity for male idols to tagert this audience, so they can fulfill their secret desires to see their favorite handsome Asian men kissing and having other kinds of romantic intimacy with other males

Yep, that's what I always thought too.

My thing is, im surprised these idols don't care about their reputation.

Cuz look at that Boys Planet dude Jiwoong.

He stared in a BL I think only one or twice, and now everyone know him as "the hot gay guy"....he fucked up bad :boompepe:

I was cringing show much when the judges brought it up in front of the other guys on the show, about his boys love acting.

I would've been mad asf, especially since he straight too.

  • Wut? Why should they be concerned with their reputation? Are you implying being associated with gay dramas is a bad thing?

There is nothing bad with acting in BLs, is just a profession. Being confused with a gay person is also a non issue, which is not the case of the absolute majority of them. The idea of those BLs is to use straight actors, so their audience can pretty much still having dreams to see them as their boyfriends
