Why do companies keep group's name?
-
-
because of royalties maybe
-
If they have the grp name they can sell cds and merch under that name not sure if fans will buy
I think they can technically also debut a new grp under that name
-
Merch, Royalties, Other future profits, Brand Protection, Preventing former members capitalizing on/"stealing" the name, prevent other companies stealing the name
-
Because they registered/trademarked the name, they own it. They can earn money through any number of ways like merch or continuos album sales. If someone else, including disbanded members, used that name without permission to make money then that would be copyright infringement or whatever the exact term is.
-
Well it's their intellectual property, they are the one who came up with the name so it's totally normal for them to keep it
and also they keep it for royalty, because they can still sell merchandise with thee group name, and also prevent the members who left the company to capitalize on the name and do some profit with it
