I noticed that Koreans can tell English dialects apart ie. British, Australian, and American speakers without speaking English. Even within American English, most can tell African American English (AAVE?) from Southern dialect (the wild west stereotypes).
I was wondering if Non-Korean English speakers can tell different Korean dialects (satoori) apart?
It’s Easy to tell Jeolla, Jeju, Gyeongsan, Gangwon, Chungjeong, and Gyeonggi dialects apart. Especially the Jeju-do dialect that is the most distinct.
Since, you guys listen to so much korean can you tell different dialects apart? I’d assume that English is easier for non-english speakers to tell apart because it’s far more globalized but since many of you guys spend a considerable amount of time hearing Korean, if you’d know?
I feel like this is a lame question but my debate classmates were discussing this the other day and I just remembered it, so I thought I’d ask you all for some input.
