[spoilers] alchemy of souls season 2 was a huge let down from season 1

  • So season 1 was really great, story and suspense wise but one thing I wanted so much was to see our assassin fl in action but it never came. At the end, it was just 2 scenes and season ended.

In season 2, they made fl a weak character who needs ml for saving and even when she retrieved her memories, she did not show much anger or desire for vengeance against jin mu, which should be technically her first thoughts. Most of the plot was just jang uk falling in love with a totally new version of naksu because there was not a single thing common between S1 and S2 naksu. there was not much suspense and story either.

my main complaint is that what is the point of making fl a badass assassin if you are never going to actually show it. Atleast in S1, fl was actually involve in making schemes and plotting for revenge and JSM did a really good job in portraying a cold hearted assassin with lost powers. In S2, they turn fl into a naive girl who needs a hero to save her from her mother and they never evolved her character even after regaining her memories. Also there was not much action and story kept crawling and then they just rushed with a shitty ending.

  • Actually, the leads had more chemistry in season 2 and it was still funny. Naksu was a mess of a character since the middle of season 1 and in season 2, I don't blame the actress but it's the writing of the show that is the weakest and all the illogical mess they created. It's definitely not one of the Hong sisters' best drama but I still watched it because I wanted to see how they would end. Hotel del Luna is still the sister's best work.

female leads of hong sister dramas are pretty much always the same. I should not have expected the action from our fl knowing who were the writers.

  • Got a 3-4 eps into the first season but put it on the backburner because of school/work. Does it continue on the path of pretty much all the major male characters falling in love with the female lead?

Planning on getting back into it, but I really dislike that trope lol

lol season 1 is really great but you have to just ignore that trope. It is just a very small part of the story and does not effect it that much. and this trope exist in almost every kdrama :sweatr:
