It's funny...
I have three main hobbies... kpop, sneakers and collecting action figures
And in all three of those hobby fandoms, the "keep unopened/deadstock/MiSB" argument exists, with weirdoes buying things to never ever open or appreciate, just put them on a shelf (or even weirder, in storage) forever and ever.

Usually, I don't. More often than not, I buy one new copy and one signed promo copy; I look at the promo copy for the cartoon/lyric booklet, inclusions, etc. (my bias doesn't have photocards any more). I also buy the album digitally, as that helps his chart position in the US more than a physical copy does.
