I believe all starts should be disastrous that way, it can only get better.

You and I live a very different life man

I treat the new day as basically a special holiday like Christmas day so I like to do an event on the day like going out to cinema to make it memorable.

That's a really nice idea! I've been trying to do more things lately too and it does help feel less like the time is slipping away while nothing meaningful has happened.

This makes me feel like I should watch the Titanic for inspiration, lol.

I wouldn't phrase it that depressingly but yeah that's a reason why. The rest of the year everyone will be having their own jobs, family life, different interests etc so it gets harder to meet up for an entire day. NYD is a semi holiday so most places are still open and running as usual so it's great time to go out.
Unfortunately I've noticed in recent years more and more people think like me so often things we want to do are packed. Last year we organised go karting and when we got there because it was so busy we had to share the track with some small kids meaning we couldn't drive as fast or "accidentally" crash into tthem lol. This year we might go on A1 day trip to France

Haha, sorry~ No need to be dramatic, you're right!
I hope you're able to do something fun and create wonderful memories.
