Disney Should Have Used K-Pop In Their Advertising

  • Hello! So, I don't know how many people are going to agree with me on this, but it's been on my mind for so long and I feel the need to say it, so I will. Hopefully Belllieve share the same feelings. So, Billlie released this song earlier this year, and when I tell you it bops, IT BOPS! It's such a good song! I listen to it all the time. You should too, if you don't already.

You know what else came out this year? I'll give you a hint: it's from a really big company. Yes, you guessed it, Strange World by Disney! I haven't seen the movie admittedly, but I did watch the trailers and a few reviews of it. I'll be honest, Disney messed up the marketing of that movie so bad it's hilarious. But that's a story for another day.

One thing I really wish they did for their trailers for the movie (yet they very sadly didn't do) is include Billlie's song in the background, at least for a part of the song. I know the first and obvious thing that people will point out is that they have the same name, and that is true, but I have more reasons for why they should have used it besides just the same name. Listen to this part:

It would fit excellently with the theme of discovering a whole strange, new world. In fact, if you listen to the lyrics of the whole chorus, all of it would make sense within the movie, or at least somewhat fit to an extent. Also, to people who are not familiar with K-Pop or how it can be, you could even argue that the song may sound "strange" to them, even further making it a great choice to use. Plus, the movie is supposed to be a relative fun, light-hearted movie (it is an animated kids movie after all), and this song sounds fun to me. Really, it's the perfect song to use.

Lastly, using that song would give Billlie so much extra exposure, even as bad as Disney advertised it, and the song is nugu enough that they probably wouldn't have to spend too much money on being allowed to use the song in said trailers. What's in it for Disney though? A bunch of K-Pop stans flocking to see the movie that used a K-Pop song to advertise it, and who want to support it because of that. All in all, you're telling me that Disney has how many employees in their advertising department, and not a single one was a K-Pop stan who thought to use this song in the advertising? To shame Disney, to shame.

All in all, what do you think? Is this a good idea, or bad one? Should Disney have used the song, or not? Why? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Be respectful and have a great day/night!

  • It wouldn’t be the first time disney referenced kpop. Jessie’s zoom was in she-hulk and 4town in turning red does take some inspiration from not only the 2000s boybands but there is some kpop influence in there too (i believe the creator is a fan of shinee and that’s why ring ding dong was credited in the movie).

I’ve also seen references in their television shows Owl House and The Ghost and Molly Mcgee.

True, and I love when it happens. I need more!

  • i don't think the marketing is the problem with disney. it just seems like people are getting tired of getting beat over the head with all of the woke messaging they keep forcefully injecting into their movies and shows. the actors and actresses they hire-- that are really just a bunch of wannabe activists that really don't know what they're talking about that do interviews being all pretentious and condescending; calling the audience a bunch of ist and isms probably doesn't help either. the biggest movie this year was top gun. it had diversity and stuff but they never tried to jam it down people's throats and because they just focused on entertaining the audience rather than berating or lecturing them on what terrible people they are according to some made up woke doctrine that doesn't make any sense, it made close to 2 billion dollars as opposed to strange world that lost money. that said, i really like billlie and if they ever get a chance to collaborate with a huge company like disney and get some exposure and also make a good chunk of money out of the deal then i wouldn't be opposed to it
