I think most of people follow this list. Based by this list 3rd gen start only 2012 for bgs. Ggs are different story. It begun in 2014 and last only 4 years. I know it does not make sense, but it is what it is.

Generations generally are nonsense and different people have different timelines for it

Compare that to second gen when we had so many groups that were at minimum moderately famous.

4minute, Sistar, T-ara, Kara, Aoa, Exid, SNSD, 2ne1, F(x), Apink, After School, Miss A, Wonder Girls, Brown Eyed Girls.

Gen 3 was always small in terms of competitive GGs. It's not just compared to Gen 4, it's also in comparison to Gen 2.

One could argue that Gen 3 reflects Gen 1 in they had a few absolute behemoths while you could argue Gen 4 reflects Gen 2
