Christmas! We do a Christmas Eve with my extended family where we draw secret Santa to get a gift for just one other family member, but mostly it's a night of food and games and hanging out with each other. 
My immediate family usually spends Christmas day eating cinnamon rolls for breakfast, watching movies, and then opening presents. My dad told me that he's "over Christmas" earlier this year, so I'm going to find out later today what we're actually doing. I like getting gifts for people and getting gifts too. It's nice to exist for people when you aren't around to physically remind them, you know? Nothing gets the warm fuzzies quite like "I saw this and thought of you."
And in a "bed by 10 p.m. because it turns out nothing exciting happens" kind of way, I also celebrate New Years. A friend is hosting a party for the first time this year, so I'm planning to go to that.

I'm just here for the Christmas tree lights. I love a lit-up Christmas tree. When I was a little girl and we'd drive around to see the Christmas lights, I was always looking in the window at the Christmas tree. I still love sleeping by the light of the Christmas tree.
YES. I live in a neighborhood now that kind of goes all out with Christmas lights (not on my street, thankfully, since the traffic is terrible for all of December while people drive through). But I love the lights too. It makes me feel so cozy.

It's like when I'm in choir we sometimes do these breathing exercises...seeing how long we can sing notes without taking a breath LOL
I remember one time, we did a challenge for our warmups where you have to sing a short little song and then start counting in one note (after taking a big breath) and see how far you could get.
I think for my all girl's class, the highest people got was 70

LMAO yep...well, as choir singers, we're trained to hold out a phrase for as long as we can without breathing unless it has a little punctuation thing that says we can breathe (if you ever see a period, comma, question mark or exclamation mark in music, it means you can breathe) 
It was fun though. I only lasted until like 40

Christmas and there's also a day called "Nikolaus".
It's not really a holiday, but in the evening of December 6th, most cities and villages have a small meet up at a community place like the community center, where a person dressed as St. Nikolaus gives out bags with sweets to children.
St. Nikolaus of Myra was a bishop, that allegedly brought about a few miracles in his lifetime, like saving a ship from a snowstorm and cohercing a rich trader to share his corn with the starving people.
There's also St. Martins day on November 11th, where lantern parades walk throught settlements to a big fire. There's a special treat, a bake shaped like a man with a pipe, that is traditionally eaten to honor St. Martin, Martin of Tours, also a bishop, known for slicing his own warm cloak in half to safe a poor man from freezing. Usually small children handcraft their lanterns in kindergarten, while older teenagers and adults carry torches, that they toss into the Martins fire when reaching it.
