With out a doubt. Even if you take all the extra's away the talent is still there and the music is still great. But on the other side of the coin. As k-pop currently is it's a serious contender for outgrowing western music and rightfully so. K-pop is actually doing something different, actually including the fans in the journey. Something missing or done as a token gesture by western music. Take the "extra's" away and the growth will stop. For better or worse.

The success/uniqueness of Kpop is 90% fan service - idol as a product, music-performance is only 10%.
So the answer is NO.
But then these days, other industries and professions are also getting into constant promotion mode.
So that would be another reason of Kpop losing its distinctiveness.
