The Korean Government + Media Sees TXT & AESPA As The 4th Gen Representatives

    I literally just saw the news, and my jaw dropped to the floor.


    ~~~ "TXT & AESPA becomes the first and only 4th gen groups to be awarded with 'Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Commendation'. South Korea's most prestigious government award. It is one the highest and most prestigious government award related to singers, actors, comedians, voice actors, script writers, and performers" ~~~


    (the award will be presented today at 6:00PM KST, while the red carpet will be at 4:30PM KST. The ceremony will be at the Haeoreum Theater of the National Theater of Korea.)


    [ I put this picture below, just so no one will try to discredit these 2 groups and make up stuff. Yes its number four they'll be receiving, but as you can see its still a very huge and important government award, and holds very high prestige ]

    *** Also i wanna throw out there that, we know Stray Kids is leading the 4th gen for boy groups. And we know IVE-NewJeans-Le sserafim has been giving AESPA a run for their money in terms of popularity and records.


    But at the end of the day, the Korean Government does not care about who kpop stans deem as on top and who "has the most social media followers and who is getting 2-3 million sales". They seem to care about more than that, and if they see TXT and AESPA who fit, then we can't hate or say anything about it.


    This isn't some international award from another country, this is their HOME COUNTRY award. TXT and AESPA seems to be looked at in a brighter light than other 4th gen groups by the Korean higher power, and if they want those two to represent Korean culture for this generation, so be it. ***

    Is this the awards that BTS got or the one that NCT got? I highly doubt that TXT and Aespa did enough to get the one that BTS got. The one that NCT got would make more sense.

    Looks like the Korean higher ups chose TXT and AESPA to represent the 4th generation.


    These kpop stans gotta realize some things are bigger than just sales numbers and charting.


    Obviously the Korean media and everyone else see more than that, and see those two as having a respectable image to show off this 4th generation.

    BTS had recieved this award in 2016 -- its the main one that kpop groups get.


    BTS went on to win the order of cultural merit in 2018 (no other kpop group has got this, only PSY has kpop wise gotten it outside of BTS).

    out of the four award categories of Korean Culture and Arts Awards, the Minister of C, S, & T is the lowest category. This award has been given to many idol groups. BB received it in 2010, Shinee in 2012, Exo & Sistar in 2013, BTS in 2016, Twice & BtoB in 2017, Red Velvet in 2018, NCt, Mamamoo, & Monsta X in 2019, etc etc etc. Basically all the well known idol groups have received it. In 2018 though, BTS received the highest category out of the culture awards and that is the Order of Cultural Merit. This one no other group has gotten and seems to be reserved for the best in the industry.

    I honestly cannot get my head around what exactly makes these two groups deserve this award.

    They are good groups, but to say, out of all of kpop and even all of 4th gen, they are on the same tier as BTS alone?

    SM and Hybe have the biggest government connections out of the big four.


    It's odd to me how some people read too much into these things. If it doesn't make sense it's usually because of the powers that be just want it this way for their own needs. It's like when people try and use Red Velvet performing for North Korea as some huge indicator of their importance when really they wanted a gg, SM have the closest relations to the government and they are all South Korean.

    Those two got chose to represent the 4th generation, and their accomplishments were appreciated by the Korean Government, which is bigger than even a Daesang.

    Bigbang, monsta x etc are not part of sm or Hybe . Just admit they found your faves unworthy


    And you think BTS would have enlisted if Hybe could lobby for them with all these government connections?

    We all know the K media has a reliable POV! And the government? Definitely has a handle on what’s relevant in music, particularly this open-minded administration. 👏

    I hate to burst your bubble but lots of groups have won this award. It's not special and they probably won't be the last 4th gen groups. There are 9 3rd gen groups that won this award.

    There will be more groups to get this award the following years but nobody else gonna be the first 4th gen group to get it.
