So why did Seulgi solo flop (but Wendy didn’t)?

I mean Wendy song isn’t that fun either but it still do well and she sold more than Seulgi. What to blame for Seulgi flopping?

Wendy had a few successful OSTs and the main vocalist usually gets the most hype, plus she was RV's first solo.

I'm surprised Like Water isn't doing better as it's a very public friendly song, and imo the best one that any 3rd gen b3 girl has put out so far.

Seulgi came out with the mutated lovechild of a BoA track and a Yunho track. She's definitely popular abroad but because of her visuals, she isn't as popular in Korea.

This also makes it pretty clear that Irene stans were doing the heavy lifting for I&S too

Is this a set up? Both songs flopped on charts lol. And Seulgi’s album still sold very well over 130k and didn’t flop, it’s not like she only sold like 20k like Chaeyeon. Joy’s album sold 50k but you didn’t call it a flop so where’s your logic? And anyway album sales depend on the fandom not the public and fans showed their support for Seulgi clearly. Her album didn’t flop in that regard

How does one even quantify Seulgi "flopping" but not Wendy? Seulgi sold more albums than Wendy, or most female soloists for that matter.

the biggest kpop soloists globally (lisa, jin, seulgi,...) didn't do well on kcharts & it's because kgp are fickle as fuck. they either adore you or you promoted A LOT in variety shows, it's that or you won't do well on kcharts...

that doesn't mean you flopped??

Seulgi's solo came out during a more competitive time period so even with better sales it seemed like she didn't make an impact.

Seulgi is promoted in Korea a lot more than Jin or Lisa and she didn't do well Domestically OR internationally
