Who had the biggest year in SK? 2020 bp, 2021 aespa, or 2022 Ive?

  • They still had straight number 1s until lion heart and top 10 hits all the way up until holiday. They were still very good digitally.

They even had a top 10 hit 15 years later.

Twice recently struggle to stay in top 50 or even 100.

Twice had more straight number 1s (9) and a top 10 hit every year with Alcohol Free in 2021, so don't take them out of the conversation. 2022 is the first year they haven't done substantially well

  • IVE

they literally have 2 national hits under their belt unlike BP (no national hit) or aespa (1 national hit).

SNSD had 10 straight number 1s from Gee to Party (Gee and Genie were before Gaon chart) and like I said every year a top 10 hit outside 2017 (Holiday did debut at 10 but dropped very soon after).

Twice is out conversation because 1. That’s not 1 of the 3 options from OP and 2. My comparison was SNSD v Twice in reply to OP comment earlier and SNSD very clearly comes off prime/peak wise.

2022 is not the first year did did badly with a CB, there are other years which are just as bad or worse:

Their last number 1 was Yes or Yes in 2018. Only 2 years since their breakout Cheer Up. Other ggs have gotten number 1s across wider number of years in their careers like RV, BP, Mamamoo to name 3rd gen ggs and 2nd gen ggs like SNSD of course, 2ne1, Sistar, WonderGirls, Girls Day etc.

2019 had Feel Special which didn’t make top 10. Not a bad result but still an NGG not making the top after having an excellent run previous years was a little weird, little did we know it was beginning of their flop era.

2020 had More and More which did good in top 10 but I Can’t Stop Me which didn’t make top 10 at all. More and more also started the trend of Twice’s horrific encores lol

2021 had Alcohol Free which only had I think 1 week in top 10 but remained steady in top 20 but then the mother of all flops Scientist. Oh lord. It struggled to enter 100 and peak around 50. That’s the level of what nugu groups do. Twice was NGG and they were doing worse than nugus. Twice was really that bad. 2021 was definitely their worst year on charts.

2022 continues the bad trend with time to talk which spent most time around 40 to 50, I think peaking in top 30 briefly.

  • aespa. People still understimate how people dance their song either in tv or public. Politic use it. They got lot of deals. Ive is big but i rarely see korean dance or sing and mention their songs. It migjt be wy who overshadow them. And lol people bring Twice 2016 year? SNSD 2009/2010/2011 ate all of the ggs that op mention.

aespa only has Next Level tho, Savage was a decent hit but it wasn't a big hit, IVE has 3 back to back hits, Eleven was released 2 months after Savage and Eleven is still 31 on melon, Savage is 170, is also higher than all aespa 2022 releases and is the weakest IVE title track, Love Dive and After Like did even better on charts

  • Ive easily. They smashed Blackpink, Twice, Aespa and everyone else this year. They deserve Artist of the Year easily, and they have Kpop's current IT girl as well.

  • It is not just aespa. The same could be same for IVE, IDLE and New Jeans. I just went to korea in October. I can literally hear IVE, IDLE and New Jeans various songs almost daily in the actual streets of korea. Not just one song from them but various songs. So, in that sense IVE, IDLE and New Jeans somewhat have the advantage cause they had ‘multiple’ viral songs.

  • Yeah it’s bigger than the mention 3. I just wanted to ask about these last few years. Twices peak in sk should be in discussion with snsd and wonder girls imo

    Yeah Twice is pretty legit

    :love::love::love:

  • It's very debatable that IVE is having a bigger year than Gidle.

ive had bigger stats in sales and internationally, and the biggest peak and best longevity in sk. its not debatable, lol. they also had 3 hits instead of 2. g idle is having a better year than aespa had with nl though, that's for sure.

  • It's very debatable that IVE is having a bigger year than Gidle.

Gidle had a legendary year for sure but I don't think there is a single measurable metric where IVE didn't top them.. ? PAK count is the only one but that's a silly thing to compare when it depends on external factors like other releases or even chart manipulation. Love Dive got 0 PAK due to foreign fans manipulating bugs - they even started requiring a Korean phone number for registration shortly after.

The best metrics are cumulative ULs for K-charts, sales and Spotify ranking. IVE is way ahead on all of these. Even song for song Love Dive is on the verge of passing Tomboy in cumulative ULs (Melon) even with the later release. It already took #1 on Circle annual a while ago. Sales and Spotify are where IVE stands out the most compared to Idle, they are in another league.

Peak UL is also IVE by a landslide, After Like had an absurd 620k peak. That is a national hit.

I don't think something as vague as "Gidle had so much impact!" or "Everyone is dancing to Tomboy on TV shows" has any meaning, same claims can be made for IVE / Love Dive and they are just as true.

  • If it is global than bp smash every one into consideration so it's stupid to include global stats when op was asked only for Korea

can you read tho what i quoted tho thats the question. it was asked between ive and gidle. nice try tho
