More like casuals have been saying it. NewJeans don't have that big of a hardcore fanbase just yet.
Don't be fooled by the "TripleS giving NewJeans a run for their money" rhetoric. That's only sensationalism spoken by multis and casual K-pop fans who want to hype things up.
I love what both groups are doing. To be honest, instead of NewJeans, I hear more LOONA in Acid Angels from Asia (TripeS subunit).
