It's too extreme to make 2 members leave the group just to change the concept, it's completely possible for them to participate in a more mature concept with just 1-2 lines
Edit: or just make them not paricipate in the comeback but keep them in the group because who knows if they will only do mature concepts for next 2 years
Well, we don't know what exactly happened behind the scenes. Maybe they were offered the opportunity to stay in the group and do mature concept but they didn't want to/their parent didn't want to?

lightsum had their own unique sound with their 2nd comeback, alive is something refreshing that made lightsum had their own identity, their dance break is where the dance line dominates and the chorus is where the cute members shine
with the removal of 2 members, they would for sure try to do a mature concept. this would make lightsum drown in the sea of fierce 4th gen ggs where everyone and their mother are trying girl crush. people often say they wanted cute concept but when yall got it yall ignore the shit out of it lol

it seems like two girls were left behind by company
and it's always sad
if you take a look at other groups like Cherry Bullet, Momoland, or even CUBE's own CLC you can clearly see that usually girl group members either leave early just because company decided they should, or they leave after multiple years because they ain't paid, or company put them on long hiatus
ive said for a long time Lightsum is a bloated group. They have a strong core, but its clear the 2 members that got booted were the least popular and the visual holes of the group. It was about damn time.
