Did you watch movies that were not in your native language, when you were a child?

  • Well... I used to watch Danish dubbed Disney movies when I was younger, and I didn't know that language until I was 8 years old.

And there was also that Robin Hood movie, which was in English, and I couldn't understand that one either.

BTW there are no Disney movies that are dubbed into my native language.

Even though I did watch some very few stuff in my native language.

The only thing, I can think of when I think of children's movies dubbed into my language is the Barbie Rapunzel movie. (I don't know if there was any other Barbie movie dubbed into that language.)

  • and we didn't hv cable growing up, so i watched cartoons on yt n there always seemed to be so many American cartoons that were dubbed in other languages with english subtitles on .. always in tht tiny screen with a random background too lmao :pepe-tinfoil-hat:

the floor is raising, the sky is fallingg, the tides are turning, my eyes are burningg, head in the clouds and im not coming down

  • Not as a child, no.

Movies and TV series are always dubbed. If you want to have the original audio, you need to buy the movie, use streaming services, or watch the movie/series illegally online.

  • when I was born my country was at war, it took a while for us to get our own channels and even then all they played was 99% foreign stuff.

We had the option of dub or sub and I always chose sub. Dub is just too weird for me.

  • No

Everything is dubed into German here

Wich is even quit weird at some points cause movie titles often get changed too and uh... example, the 2022 movie "The bad guys" is called "Die Gangster Gang" (The Gangster Gang) here and uh ... why did they even change the title? I mean what if you try to tell someone on an English website about the movie or hear in a video of it with the original name and everyone just ends confused? It gets worse when the title is either completle changed to German for a movie or gets a German title next to the original title

But In my opinion German dub is very great tho. I sometimes saw clips of shows on Youtube (maybe cause it was used in someone's video) and it got me so confused plus I don't even like some voices in their English form. I mean the German voice actress who did the role of Bernadette (The Big Bang Theory) sounds less weird than her original voice

Here is a video with some voice actors, so you get a feel to what it looks like when hollywood actors get doubt into German
